GTX 1660 TI is a GDDR6 memory type gpu. Fix your description. The base model GTX 1660 is GDDR5.

He said GDDR 6 in the Video, but the description has GDDR5 - which is obviously a typo. That said, There are GDDR6 versions of the GTX 1660 and I have seen GDDR 5 versions of the 1660 TI This is entirely dependent on the card manufacturer rather than NVIDIA. The TI part is to do with the power of the core chip, not GDDR 5 or 6

Honestly loving these very much, have you tried the 1060 3gb? Cause if it runs almost 60 with 16 series cards 4 or 6 gb cards im thinking its gonna be just about fine with the 10603gb version

A fun and informative video as always. Cool to see a game that is well optimized and still looks beautiful. Then again Horizon Zero Dawn also is a beautiful game what runs very well. Based on what I am seeing I think I should be more then ok with my RX 5600XT.

I understand that the way this game handles VRAM could potentially open this game up to lower VRAM cards. The fact that the 750 TI, with its 2 GB of VRAM, runs this game at all with *somewhat* consistent frametimes is honestly incredible. However, the game starts swapping stuff from system memory too quickly imo, and part of me wishes they took a more conventional approach to memory management. You effectively need 16 GB or higher to run the game at PS5-quality, same with Ratchet and Clank iirc. Not even The Last of Us required that much. I’d rather the game just use all the VRAM I paid for.

If you play this DLC for a long time, do all the missions then 8GB cards run out of VRAM on high textures.

I recommend medium preset(with low cloud) for this card. In base game cloud setting doesnt affect that much performance but in the dlc it is.I have the same card and use this settings. 50-60 fps

Your concerns of VRAM swap is valid. This method is called over-provisioning. You never want to hit the cap of VRAM because it can create slow down's, instability and crashing. You need a buffer as to not over commit the VRAM. Now with really fast DDR5 system memory and NVMe SSD's, swapping isn't as bad as it used to be.

This would be a good test for the RTX 2060 and RX 5600 XT too. Those two cards kinda targeted nearly the same consumers at the time too (entry/mid level), so would be interesting to see how they hold up against each other.

one thing is really confusing, a 1660ti is able to pull 40 fps in 1080p high which is good, but then how a 3060 12gb is also giving just 47sh fps only? in same settings. shouldn't it perform little better?? please kryzzp test test again with 3060 12 gb with all settings if possible.. it will be really helpful for my purchase decision

Hey dude I got a rx 6600 8gb gpu and cant run this game at 1080p high preset because it exceeds vram after 15-20 minutes of gameplay and drop fps drastically (from around 50 to around 30) and decrease vram usage by like 1 or 1.5 GB. Why is that is 8gb vram not enough for high preset or is it because I have enabled AMD SAM feature

I experienced fps drop even on 8gb card high textures at 1080p native, so yeah, going forward i'd be cautious buying a new graphics card with less vram than 12gb even at 1080p, for higher resolution, i'd go with more than that unless you can accept playing modern games at medium textures settings.

the biggest problem is that textures on medium in new games look much worse than in older ones on ultra or high and use the same amount of vram :/

med textures looks like crap so i am running high preset on mine 6650xt but yeah fps after like 45 mins of playing or going to city drops until i restart the game, i guess they should refractor how it swap things to ram from vram....

In nvidia control panel there is an option that says policy of using system memory as a backup that says it blocks the Vram so that it does not exchange to the system ram, thats interesting

The Burning shores are more intensive because it has been made for the PS5, so it uses more Vram, and is just more demanding. And stuff like volumetric clouds also dont help I guess

idk why but even tho some olde gen ( gtx) gpus r able to play this game smoothly on 1080p higher settings but the picture quality is not looking that good when compared to moderns GPUs ...am i wrong ?

How to lock the game at 30fps? there is no option in game settings. I had a 40fps cap in the last of us and played very stable.

I’ve noticed some nixxes ports swaps to ram too quick I’ve especially seen this with rise of the tomb raider and shadow of the tomb raider on a 4gb card it starts swapping when vram reaches 3.2gb

don't get 4060 instead get 6700xt As well 5800x meh, get 5700x cheaper, perf is almost the same and it runs much cooler Or 5700x3d or 5800x3d but those aren't that cheap

I Set everything to high except texture and shadow because these two settings are really vram hungry and 6gb is far from enough but it's ok for medium texture and shadow. Also using fsr3 Luke mod in quality or ultra quality can give me easily around 60fps in fg off and 100+ fps in fg on mode. Fsr3 is way better looking than built in upscalings in this game

not that big, like 25-30% to 6600xt and 15% to 6600, i'd switch to 6700 or 6700xt instead 8gb vram is also meh, i have 6650xt and i have some issues with high settings in 1080p in forbidden west, maybe pcie 3.0 doesnt help as well but after like 45 minutes it swaps stuff to ram as hell and fps drops from 60-70 to 40-50 or sometimes to 35 so i need restart the game to play smoothly i wont change textures to medium because it doesnt look good then imo

Not worth it.Better upgrade to 3060 or any other card with at least 12 gigs of vram.Otherwise you'll need to decrease texture res in every upcoming game

i had 1660ti, and looking hows working in this game i think Hogwarts legacy is very similar in intensivenes, but Hogwarts has less input on Cpu, cuz i have 11400F and was like 20-30% of usage on average.

i play 60 stable with my gtx1080 on high settings, with fsr3 mod works really smooth except for the hud ui ghosting, no big deal i set hud to dynamic
