This is pretty damn close to the philosophy which I found really helped my BJJ game. The idea of being sticky in one direction, but slippery in another direction. You stick to people and make it very hard for them to pass your guard, but you give them a certain direction in which they can move. Once they move that direction, you transition to a more offensive position because you are ready for them to pass and you use that to your advantage.

I have Gordon's Thou Shalt Not Pass videos. The problem I have is the amount of pressure a larger guy puts on me pins me down preventing me to move to face him. Our mats are a "vinyl" and makes us somewhat sticky. Not making excuses, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but this doesn't happen to me with the lighter guys.
@therealwhoopigoldberg

Teaching philosophy is always better than teaching individual combos or moves. As a boxing coach I always taught using that method. Too many coaches get caught up in repetition. I'm not saying it's not important as well. But it is so valuable to teach someone why something works. It will help them in application.

Theses aren’t new concepts. Rickson has been teaching this for years. Instead of stickiness he talks about connections, and instead of a move for every scenario and thinking about basic themes, like G. Ryan talked about, Rickson talks about Conceptual Jiu Jitsu. It’s basic connection and concepts. This is why G. Ryan is one of the GOATs
