Job well done on the cinematography. The green has the most trout per square mile, but it is also one of the hardest due to pressure and water clarity. Presentation is key to having success on this river, and that honestly just takes days of practice. I learned how to fly fish on this river. I was blessed to have a family home in Dutch John for many years. Those rising fish were taking size 22 to 20 BWO dries on your first over cast day. On the sunny days those and size 20 midge dries would be key to dry fly fishing as well.
@mountainwell
@mountainwell 4 ай бұрын
It would be an incredible experience to grow up so close to the river. I couldn't agree more, those fish are picky. The BWO hatch is tough as well just because there can be so many bugs on the water. I find it challenging to convince the fish to pick my fly when it's surrounded by the real deal, haha. I really appreciate the advice and kind words! Thanks for watching!

Great video, but y'all were fishing redds. I don't know if that etiquette is fine in UT, but I'd suggest leaving those spawning fish alone. There's a reason a bunch of similar sized browns were stacked in shallow, slow water. The aerial shot of you casting, you could see the lighter colored gravel of the bottom below where your bobber landed, which is all spawning water.
@greenriverflyfisher7779
@greenriverflyfisher7779 4 ай бұрын
It would depend on the river. This stretch of river deals with overpopulation issues. River managers actually advertise fishing during the spawn. When the population gets to high it stunts the growth of the fish and hurts the health of the overall fishery.

Hey Jake, totally understand the concern here, we're certainly advocates of conservation and keeping the fishery healthy. River managers in this region are concerned with overpopulation and encourage folks to get out this time of year so the fish can grow bigger and stay healthy. I noticed you had mentioned we'd likely be back this November in another comment. You can count on that and tag along in Guardians of the Green | Volume 3. Appreciate the watch and interest!

Shows massive fish with bloody tail… SMH. If you’re gonna floss reds, just don’t film it.

And then they will wonder why there aren't as many fish as "there used to be" just a few years down the road but hey....today was fun though right!!?? I'm not innocent from fishing Redds either but someone had to help me with the realization of what I was actually doing to the fishery too. When you falsely believe that just one group of dudes can't hurt it, you don't understand that you aren't the first group or the last to do the same thing day after day after day. It starts with me and then you and then the next guy leaving them alone that will make the river BETTER than you found it. Be BETTER for all of us
