I've loved him since watching him on Reading Rainbow as a child. What a comforting presence. I would definitely watch Jeopardy more often with LeVar as host.

Ok. Let’s talk, Jeopardy. This man taught an entire generation to appreciate books and knowledge. These are the same people that are now Jeopardy contestants. He is humble but he has confidence. He has humor, poise, and is well-spoken. He seems like he actually knows the answer to the questions he’s asking. As a child of the 90s he meant so much to my childhood and so many others’. I get emotional just thinking about it. For the love of god, make this man host!

He has the hosting experience hosting Reading Rainbow for over 20 years in addition to his work with Star Trek. I know that Star Trek fans (myself included) want LeVar Burton to be the next host when it is announced in August after Joe Buck's stint.

Levar's first game show appearance was on Pyramid in 1977, shortly after Roots debuted. He was a regular celebrity on Pyramid for the next 10 years, and was on Celebrity Jeopardy! in the mid 90s.

I grew up watching Levar host Reading Rainbow. That show inspired me to get my library card and check out books all the time as a kid. Now that I'm older lol I would gladly tune in to watch Jeopardy as my greys come in lol.

I had completely forgotten about this man but as soon as I heard his voice memories of reading rainbow came crashing back. I think he would be a great permanent host for Jeopardy

LeVar Burton will hit a grand slam as guest host of Jeopardy. Tbh, I'd love to see him as the permanent host of the show. He'll make it work.

I've been looking at each guest host for some specific qualities: naturalness, expressiveness, a bit of erudition, and the ability to connect with the contestants and not be overwhelmed by the process of hosting. Some of them have come closer to fitting the bill than others have. And while Alex could occasionally be a little socially awkward when ad-libbing with the contestants, I think he embodied all of those qualities pretty well, and that's what made him such a success as Jeopardy host for so long. There's a lot that goes into being a good host, and Alex made it look easier than it is. I believe LeVar Burton also has those qualities, and if he does as well as I think he will, he'll make a wonderful host. I don't know if he's interested (Edit: he is), but he could be a great candidate for permanent host as well! Looking forward to finding out!

I saw Lavar Burton host Jeopardy for the 1st time tonight.. What a warm and familiar feeling. I don't know why people even mention his color .....who cares? I believe he is the best reader and interacts really well with contestants in a very natural and warm way. I love many of the others, but as contestants, broadcasters or performers. Lamar Burton gets my "vote" , for whatever that is worth. Good luck Lavar. I will be watching as long as you are the host- just as I did when it was Alex.

He's perfect for this show, he brings excitement to a show I never watched.. not because I didn't like it but to me it was just boring. And although I'd pop in every now and then just to check up on Alex Tribeca. I admired his longevity. And now I look forward to catching a show.

Totally see him being a Great jeopardy host for good. I see he's channeling Alex but still being himself. Perfect balance and very likeable human being. Most of all he really wants it that alone can be enough because you know he'll be ever grateful and inspiring to audience and contestants alike. That's the magic Alex brought.

I've sooo been waiting for this!! LeVar is the perfect choice for the permanent host spot having encouraged young minds for decades to read and aspire to higher education. I have a feeling Alex would love to have LeVar as his successor. LeVar also brings that warmth and genuine personality to everything he does. He just seems like someone you could easily sit down and have a beer with and enjoy a wonderful conversation with. Jeopardy, make this happen!!

The moment I saw LeVar Burton on TV all my childhood memories came flooding back. He helped me to keep on going and reading even when I wanted to give up. It took me a bit longer due to diagnosed learning disabilities but I eventually went on to graduate from a highly ranked University with highest honors. From the bottom of my heart thank you.

At this point, I think it's down to Levar, Mayim or Ken for permenant host. Very much looking forward to this, Levar always knocks it out of the park, whether it's Roots, Star Trek or Reading Rainbow.

@Will N Someone posted an interview with Rolf about how he got the job, he had never even seen wheel of fortune, wasn't really interested in doing TV (let alone host a game show) and was only given a couple of days notice. To be fair he got better but he wasnt prepared. Too bad Ken doesn't want to do it. Seems like it was implied they were prepping him to takeover for Alex.

LeVar demonstrated tonight that he knows exactly how big the shoes are that he is filling. He found his stride and cleaned up in the second act which will only improve as his day goes by. So far, I’ve been waiting for LeVar’s series of episodes to air. I watched him and Alex during my youth. Reading and Learning are central to LeVar Burton, and both Alex and LeVar together (while on different shows) celebrated intelligence and enthusiastic learning. They taught me to enjoy having fun, and taking in knowledge. We must remember, Jeopardy! Is about the spirit of academic competition, and celebration of learning and knowledge. - Don’t pull away from the contestants too far. I’d also say that, Jeopardy! ought to still do a national search to let a regular person who’s not famous, host Jeopardy! for a week’s worth of episodes (since a week worth of shows are taped in one day). I for one, as a pub trivia host, would love a chance to carry on Alex’s legacy. He impacted the world, and we cannot forget him.

Jeopardy fans have been waiting for this. Thanks to Reading Rainbow, Levar is intrinsically linked to learning. My childhood love of reading was influenced by this man. He can continue Alex's legacy of learning in a way no other guest host can match. I would LOVE to see him named as the new permanent host.

I LOVED Reading Rainbow and Levar growing up and still treasure Reading Rainbow today, just like I enjoy Jeopardy. I am so glad Jeopardy got Levar to guest host. He did excellent! I am not surprised at his charity! I am glad his charity is benefitting from him guest hosting!
