This wasn't how Sin was born lol he simply made up the story, probably when he was still a kid to explain why he didn't have a second eye. He would have seen Ky when Ky wore an eyepatch back in an older game. This was when Ky was having major anxiety about word getting out that he and Dizzy had Sin, hence him saying "dad got all freaked out."

I like to think it's actually the truth and gears are complicated. Ky's got it rough.
