I'm beginning to think that the entire cast doesn't have low health, but rather that Baiken does stupid damage. Seems to be the constant here lol

It's incredible how in only a few patches, Sin went from being the worst character in the entire game, to a contender for being the best.

I'm glad GGS DLC characters haven't just run wild in tournaments, which has really killed hype in a lot of previous generation FGs, but I do think them generally being fairly weak out of the gate isn't great either.

Its funny cause GL usually never ranks very high in tier lists until ONE single thing makes him good, and that one thing is always help in neutral. The one other time he was like top of A+ was when they made drone busted. Then after it was nerfed he dropped to like mid-lowmid tiers. But then they add WWA, and old boy is back to the top again lmao

One thing I've noticed about Gio is that top players like Ty and Kouhide straight up refuse to use meter for the hard knockdown and would rather play neutral. I tried it myself, and being able to threaten people with dive kick or any meter option is really powerful in neutral. Additionally, even if you get hit, it's very likely that you'll have 100% meter and won't take as much damage, allowing you to be safe on a reversal if you didn't commit to super for the wall break.

4:53 - when you explain the placements you can just say that the character is in "Highest / Higher / Middle / Lower / Lowest" in their tier. For example if we look at the "Wins" tier we can see that Sin kiske is in the Highest because he stands first. Goldlewis and Sol are in the Higher Tier because they go after Sin. Nago is cosnidered in the Middle. Ram, Leo, May are lower tier and Ky is in the lowest of his own tier(meaning that he can be interchangeable with the tier below him) and so on. Although it is important to note whether you are making your placements in order from strongest to weakest in a singular tier or you are just dropping characters in without any structure to it, because the examples above only work with strongest to weakest structure

If you notice most of Goldlewis's strengths aren't new. In my opinion he has been constantly underrated since release. (Although he was very underdeveloped especially before season 2) The main issues for him are really how he matches up into the popular characters of the version.

your placement of baiken is good, very honest I will say though as a fellow baiken main that her biggest weak point is neutral right now she has great options on paper like iad j.s youzansen, run up 2h all that good stuff but those can be beaten pretty handily by characters like testament and happy chaos and a lot of the top tiers I am definitely on board with the people sayin she should have suzuran again also, I recently switched to bridget and my opinion about asuka has really flipped idk why baiken just can't cope with the cubes but it really is a major flaw in that mu

I believe that Ino really deserves to be in Extra Effort tier as oppose to Great Chance to Win. It's main due to her neutral with her hoverdash. Certain matchups she loses really hard because how her dash blocking works. Where most characters who dash block would be normally be a strength, Ino's dash block is almost as bad as johnny because she's in the air when she does it, allowing players to continue to pressure more than against a regular character. WA wall break does help her alot, and she has the one of, if not the best, post wallbreak knockdown situation in entire. But, couple with the fact that defense mechanics have been buffed so hard in season 3, this hurts Ino alot because that has to redo neutral game all over again, giving opponents more time to take win from her. It definitely requires alot of effort from her.

I love watching this game but i literally havent touched it at all since the Zato Nerfs. Zato is the only character im interested in playing with. So seeing him get done so dirty was a tough blow to take. Then Tekken 8 Released and SF6 released Ed. I dont think ima return until they do something to help my boy out lol.

I kinda hope that they change HS error so that they have to block the direction of it, it would be a very potent mixup tool for how hard it is to actually get it to hit

11:55 smh missing the ? at the end of bedman I'm unsubbing

Problem with HC is you can throw his mixup as well...most of the time anyway. There's about a 1 frame window where if they shoot it'll counter a throw but everything else is a punish. Too late and you just grab them. Too early, assuming you blocked the shot, you can grab before they recover. To make sure this is possible with human reactions btw I ran a couple tests in practice mode and I might not be too accurate but after about 5 minutes of practice and switching my customs multiple times I've got roughly 75% accuracy. I'm not saying we need major change but maybe he's a bit weaker then we think...

idk how you resisted the urge to use that screenshot of the 'Niche or Powercrept' with Sol's face right next to it for your thumbnail Edit: normally on your tier list videos I'm seething with your May takes but honestly I think May is in a really great spot. In terms of weaknesses her air buttons are not great in neutral and she still has the shortest cS range in the game. May does have great dash speed but averag acceleration (compared to something like a Ram deadsprint on startup), you really feel it when you get those knockdowns and have to full screen dash for oki. The only other big weaknesses is her reliance on forcing rps scenarios without a reliable low profile move (3K takes 11f to low profile), and she has a very average 6P in 6P-the-game, while also not having any meaningful meterless conversions off of a 6P CH. There's no 6P spam into special launcher OS like we're Ram or Nago. In my perfect world they change 3K to lowprofile on frame 5 but leave it at 12f startup (and god forbid let us special cancel it like every other advancing low normal in the game, but that would be a massive buff that she doesn't need). I do wish we had more players even near the level of Slash but my current issues with the game are almost entirely system mechanics, and them aside I think May is in her perfect spot in terms of power level.

small disagreements here and there with placements and explanations but nothing particularly outrageous i do want to add with sol that was kind of alluded to but not out right highlighted is that sol can play a gambling game with his offense much more so than other characters that very heavily rewards good risk/ reward management arguably to a point that makes that risk/ reward unfairly skewed in sol's favor once he's able to force that kind of game on his opponent due largely because of how high his damage potential is, particularly on his most notable combo enders

It's been a hot minute since I followed anything guilty gear. I've been hearing "power crept" a lot lately, especially since dbfz season 3 I believe, but for some reason power crept and extra work seems like it should be reversed. It's no biggy, just in my head power crept stills like the character's solid but no fluff and have to stick to strike/throw and system mechanics. I got what u mean, but because im old, im processing stuff slower 😅. Great video and stay blessed.

I agree that white wa is weaker on Bedman that other characters but it’s still really important for him. I think the difference is that for other characters white wa is a whole new threat the opponent has to worry about whereas for Bedman it’s more about covering up weaknesses of his.

Johnny is such a fun character man, just give my guy a poor-man's dashblock, it can still be restrictive (maybe you can only cancel X frames into the dash) but he needs SOMETHING. Literally that single change will propel him to solid midtier or even high tier, but I still don't think he would be a monster like in Xrd, the other characters in Strive are also insanely juiced.

I haven't got into video yet but wondering how you feel about the season 3 changes to system mechanics now its a while into the season. And if you think they've been good for the game/balance or maybe need to be tweaked still Eg goldburst giving positive, positive bonus giving burst, adding wild assault and deflect shield to the game.

Goldlewis drone died so white wild assault can flourish. Edit: I know drone is still good but it was ABSURD when it didn’t go away on hit probably the funniest patch in the game for me

I always feel like I'm playing a different game than pros when I see lists like this because I don't expect the placements at all

On Jack-O you said "it's better" that her super got turned into a strike. Could you possibly explain a little more? I always thought that was a nerf because I felt like having a command grab made her just that tiny bit scarier in pressure, especially in the corner cuz it caused wall break and gave her positive bonus.

Strive was my first fighter that i tried to learn and the literal moment i saw goldlewis in the intro video i knew i was gonna main him, I thought i was so cool and clever cause i could do all the BTs and setups. I never knew i was a gorilla until i branched into to other fighters

Great video, but I have a question: when you do the "funny gun combo" on the elphelt at 16:46, are you timing the youzansen to leave a gap between it and the j.h. or is the dummy somehow set to not guard the second hit? I tried doing the combo in training mode and can't get the dummy to block the j.h. but not the youzansen.

I play faust and the fact his backwalk is so fast kinda hurts, I gain a lot of space if I'm not crouch blocking.

9:40 A comment for testament. As someone who mains the character I am not stupid enough to go point blank at the enemy like you are showing there I always end up staying at a range and grabbing if they end up getting as close as you got right there.

i think your aside about jack o is true. and i think they approach it that way too. they make some characters really focused on non-traditional stuff because that's been toned down across most of the cast.

How does LK get the youzansen to connect on Zato-1 at 6:37, during the gun combo? When I try , Zato-1 just blocks both my jH and youzansen. Is it a timing thing or is it something else?

I feel like Eddie should come back faster if he gets killed by system mechanics. If he gets killed by a jab or fireball, it should take a bit for him to come back. I think it rewards players who find the gap in Zato's pressure, while not punishing Zato when he gets an opening

With the different way that they pronounce his first name in Japan (said like "Key", instead of "Kai") and the fact that the musician that his last name comes from pronouces his own name as "KISS-kuh", it's a miracle that we can even say Ky's name at all XD

As a Faust main(I used to play Zato but he became too boring), I feel like his items don't get a lot of credit. I strongly believe that every item, outside of donut of course, more often than not, benefit pace of the match in a noticeable way - even banana peel for example. I've used banana peel more times than I can count to do a suprise scare crow behind the apponent to slip away from the corner hor to simply have something they have to block before dashing towards me. Even if trumpet is picked up by the opponent, I will sometimes use the low hitstun of the minion parade to do a *safe* K scarecrow behind the opponent to escape the corner, and sometimes even get an unexpected combo.

I love doing hand breaking soul destroying combos as hc, finally hitting it in a real match doing half hp at most but all the while destroying the mental fortitude of my opponent. It’s not about winning it’s about sending a message. However I hate that some of the cast can just press a few buttons and do double the damage.

I feel like Johnny's main weakness is that he is a neutral-focused character in a game where almost everyone has a strong mid or really useful means to close distance. It takes a lot of technical ability to get Johnny to do what many other characters get to do for free. When I'm playing him it feels like his card mechanic is handy-capping him more than anything.

Can someone explain more on why Sin is so good? LK didn’t really say much other than good buttons and defense, which seems a little lackluster for the #1 in the game.. especially compared to Goldlewis

I agree, Strive needs more sandbox-y characters like Jack-O. Where you can be more creative with the tools for more diversity in playstyles.

Johnny to me seems like he can do crazy shit with weird janky situation due to the momentum the characters carry but I still look at Johnny and just see someone who can be played well but is mid he has a pretty dead move with ensanga being just a shitter combo ender that doesn't do a whole lot he cant step block which would make him definitely much better if he could be then again who knows I'll see what the next balance patch does.

johnny's inability to dashblock makes spinning chain strike surprisingly useful against him at times. i actually think his inability to dashblock is part of his identity (in this game, anyways), and i think it'd be lame if they just got rid of it. i'd rather they design the character around the limitation
