If Mr George Mackley our Headmaster (who was a famous wood cutter and printer,)- was still alive, I wonder what he would have to say about Jeff Beck being one of the greatest Guitar players! I felt that eff was going to become a good player at school. When I heard him at aged 14 years when the class were all a year younger at Sutton East, try to actually make a guitar. He came in with a jumble of wires and bits of wood, and sat on the floor of the store room and after some time there some blues notes came from from the store room! I was utterly astounded! How had he done that? We were all 13 years old and a year younger than Jeff Beck who had arrived late ion the year. We did not live in the modern world of miniature radio so it could not have been that but about 6 blues notes came from where he was sat. I was excited to hear them because I loved the blues, and felt sure that Jeff would be famous one day! I was too shy to tell him. I felt that he would be one of the best, because he was so determined to make this guitar. I knew something about determination because I played the piano. I did not know his mother was a pianist like mine, and that Jeff had to learn as well, but when I heard his history it all made sense to me and I was suer that he would succeed. How could you discuss Jeff Beck’s career without mentioning Live at Ronnie Scott’s? I think I wore out my copy of Wired. Other Beck songs grabbed my attention along the way, from Yardbirds through Rod Stewart, etc. But those sessions in 2008 were a masterpiece. The band is fabulous. Beck’s playing is so unique and expressive that it’s impossible to describe. He gets EVERYTHING out of his instrument. And he has that wonderful ability to fill in for vocals with his guitar. Listen to “A Day in the Life”. Yes, Beck played rock for a while in the ‘60s and early ‘70s, but he played English “blues” too. Jazz clearly is part of his vocabulary too. He made some of the most popular fusion, then he just kept on playing, creating, and made his own music.

When "BLOW BY BLOW" came out - I was just 17 - you know what I mean - it completely changed the approach I had to guitar. The guy just keeps getting better and better too! When Jimi Hendrix was invited to the UK it was BECK who he wanted to meet the most.- Americans are REALLY stuck on ranking things and Top Ten lists which really doesn't work when it come to creative endeavors. Once you reach that level of mastery and talent, each person becomes a unique talent and does what he does best. There IS no "greatest guitar player" - Jeff Beck does things Andre Segovia could never do, and Segovia does things Django Reinhardt could never do - Django does things that would baffle Hendrix who has techniques Dick Dale would be lost at - and Dick Dale does things Lonnie Johnson could only shake his head at etc... ONE impressive aspect is that even thouigh he's never become a pop sensation and there are plenty of rock fans who aren't that familiar with him (though that's been changing the last few years) if you asked a number of talented guitarists about him, his influence and respect is at the very highest margin. When people sit around and name a bunch of great electric guitar players, his name may not even come up that often - but once it does - in my experience - he starts to become THE topic.Metal-heads, classic rockers, jazz fans and blues buffs alike tend to give him the regard that hardly any other player gets that level of attention across the board. .

A well worded with wise precision comment my friend, I couldn't have said it any better myself in-fact not near as good as what's been said here fantastic stuff, I'm an "Accomplished Guitarist" [still learning, always] I have had the great opportunity of joining many "Rock Bands" over the years and performed multi-tudes of Shows, Whilst rising through the rank's so to speak of learning and eventually being very practiced + rehearsed & good enough, to join a working Band, Jeff Beck was one of many, many guitarists I would look up to over the years and still do today, well that's why I'm here I just finished watching a clip of him, "Jimmy Page in-fact Said Himself When Jeff is On, He's Un-touchable" little wonder Jimi was highly sort after by Jeff when Jimi fly to England, No doubt Jeff wasn't disappointed either] I didn't know that. It was guitarists such as Richie Blackmore, George Harrison, Hank Marvin, Scotty Moore, (wasn't much into page, but I should have been) Albert Collins, Johnny Lee Hooker, Freddy King, Johnny Winter, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, Roy Buchanan, Rory Gallagher, John Mclaughlin, Al Dimeola, Joe Walsh, Neil Young & Jimi Hendrix (and a host of others) were plenty nuff to keep me busy plus entertained via vinyl, I also learned, borrowed, stole, poached & observed by/at other musician friends and watching Live Bands at bars, I was at a house party back in the early 80's, there was a boot-leg album of Jeff Beck Playing on the Stereo and couldn't believe it was Jeff when told after I asking so, it was freaking phenomenal the Music was Like "SUPER FLOYD SUPER HENDRIX" & fucking blew my fucking Mind either that or I was STONED Off of My Nut & I regret to this day that I didn't either steal the tape or at least get the name of the title of it Chur! -

Wired is my favorite, but I love all of the rest of his work too. I don't think I've ever heard a Beck jam that I did not like. He was brilliant!

Awesome video, love it. Have both old Beck albums with Rod Stewart, among a few others. Saw the Ronnie Scott's tour in Milwaukee, Tal wore an amazing red dress.
