"If I fail my band will cover for me". That's crazy humble. In reality his own band members were in awe of him. You could see it in their faces during shows. They were constantly watching him with these expressions of joy and wonderment at what they were hearing and seeing. He was so much fun to watch. Beck knew he was adored. But he was too smart and decent to let it go to his head. Instead he stayed down to earth where he could focus on creating heavenly music and remain a true friend to all those who loved him.

There *was* that one time when Tal "covered" for Jeff after one of his amps failed by having him share her fretboard while she took a solo (which Jeff apparently appreciated so much that they added that "version" to future performances)...

Even though his age of death is not shocking, the fact that he was still so active is what makes his passing very surprising. Tom petty, prince and Glenn Frey were extremely shocking, none of them were 70 yet. George Harrison had been so sick and not playing or making any albums (save for “Brainwashed”)

In my book, Jeff Beck is one of the five great guitar players ever, and yet, he is so humble. All he wants to do is play well and send the audience home smiling. It is rare to hear a great player be so candid and honest about how hard it is to play in front of a discerning audience. Who would ever imagine Jeff Beck was that nervous about how he would sound, and how the audience would react. After all the years and so much acclaim, he still cares about doing his best. I am thrilled by his musicianship, but even more amazed by Jeff's attitude. So many of the folks from the 60s are dead, burnouts, or a**holes, but Beck seems to have learned the right lessons in life, and he seems to be comfortable in his own skin. That is not an easy thing when you spend most of your life being told how great you are. My hats off to Mr. Beck. Sorry to ramble. In real life, I am a journalist who has covered wars and politics for too many years. Music is my sanity.

Many people today recognize that Jeff Beck is a phenomenal composer and guitarist. However, old guitar players - like me - will remember multiple ... decades ... when we considered him to be perhaps the greatest guitarist's electric guitarist... who relatively few among the public knew even existed. It is astonishing that this guy has been blowing the minds of guitarists with his ability to write great stuff that is so incredibly, seamlessly - perfectly - supported by his phenomenal playing skills... for... over... 50 ... years. There have been many (albeit a very small percentage of all) guitarists who have come along. Jeff Beck has transcended greatness: He is among the handful who are legendary. And to think that between his two great interests, if only one is a passion, it is building hot rods. That would make the guitar... just his hobby. Jeff, on behalf of 99.9999% of guitarists everywhere..it just ain't fair.

His music is profound and deeply influential going back to the 1970's for me ,but with KZfaq and video his concerts became accessible, what I would have given to have been a fly 🪰 on the wall at Ronnie Scott's for that, this interview let's me see a simple yet complicated virtuoso who has a humble side and a deeply respectful side , he can be intimated by the possibility of a bad performance yet works so hard not to, it's been said by others on here there will be a void that will never be filled by anyone like him in our lifetime and I can only hope to hear him playing in his eternal life praying father God made a place for him to be with us all on the other side of the eternal through Jesus christ our lord.
