It's kinda funny you said, roughly speaking, that he's in a place to where he has to create. There's many different ways for me to connect with Oliver's music. One being that it's coming from the heart. I believe what he's saying. But on a very serious level. I was a professional mechanic, welder, and a so so fabricator. I had a back surgery that failed. I'm 100% disabled now. It hurts just to sit up. Although in my head all I can think about is making and creating things. It's basically killing me to not be able to work. Back to the song, Yeah I feel like I just want to go home. I feel like I'm just sitting here waiting to die. Because, for me personally, what I'm enduring feels worse than death. The REALLY messed up thing is that I could be fixed!! I have a doctor that has the ability to make my life 1000 times better. I just can't afford it. Medicare won't cover it, even though it's cheaper in the long run. I cannot even begin to describe what that feels like inside. Yes, I'm well aware that there's people who are WAY worse off than I am. I'm in no way trying to compare others pain and suffering to mine, period. My heart goes out to those folks more than you'll know. Anyway, this is how I relate to this song. Thanks for the great content Mr. Palmisano. I do enjoy it even though I've not a clue how to play a guitar!!

@@slfprtrt Yeah, no. Those that say that there's contradiction in the other song are assuming that Oliver Anthony is in the same boat with the 5'3" 300lb milking welfare. They may be in the same "economic class", but they are not the same. For example, one is living off the dole of the taxpayer. The other is working and paying into the system. I'll let you decide who is who, but what was clearly referenced in the song was the person that is nothing but a draw on the system. He's referring to the person that doesn't work and doesn't want to and gets paid using tax dollars provided by the working class to keep themselves in a unhealthy state. Those that want to gaslight people into thinking that the people utilizing the system for a hand up because of difficult times are who he's talking about are completely disconnected from the message. The problem isn't Oliver (Chris). The problem is with your biases. Quit assuming anything and take the song as it says. There is no gray area or suggestive lines. He said what he meant and he meant what he said, and nothing in the song was a contradiction...unless you're someone consuming the likes of Hasan Piker and the rest of the MSM. THEY asserted that and those that want to disagree with the intent of the song tend to agree with what they said. Quit following and think for yourself.

I was born of a broken home. My mother was a drug addict it took my dad 4 years to gain full possession of me. My mother also used my disability , and my dads child support money to feed her addiction further. Up until I was 6 years old you could see bone through skin. When I was finally able to be rescued by my dad my life improved. When I was 23 years old on April 2nd 2014 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor that took up between 25-30% of cranial space. My doctor made me aware that my nervous system to my bodies right side is damaged but can be maintained to be on par with my bodies left side and memory exercises . So it’s hard to believe I took to music , I choose to learn to play the bass guitar. The low end feeling of notes and what I call being a tempo translator has helped me out gratefully! It’s one thing I never thought I would be able to do. I’ve dealt with some pretty terrible people in this world post neurosurgery. Surgery markings that will never go away , muscle tissue had to be removed from my face for the doctor to save my life. Many people have pointed out the deformity to me around their kids , even encouraging their kids to treat me like I’m not a human. I’ve been pushed to a brink of having facial reconstruction surgery done but I told myself the tide will pass, so to me Music is my way to release my frustration and anger !

10:46, fly, flies into his neck, bounces down, hopefully dies. Good points on the video. Also, My daughter saved her allowance for 2 years to proudly buy for herself that exact guitar. Great kid, 12 yo. I am more proud of her for doing that (in spite of our offers to buy it for her), than she ever can be for buying it herself. Anywho, God bless you, and may God smite that fly.

He's only been writing music for 2 years, and has already mastered the art. That little cheap Gretsch sounds amazing too.

The people that are attacking Oliver absolutely DO require that you think exactly the way they do, and that's the problem.
@pamelaferreira459410 ай бұрын
The exciting thing is that regular people are making a statement about the problems and fears of the current situations through music. This happened during Vietnam War and the voice of the young were heard through the music of protest. For the first time since Covid I feel something positive happening.

Oliver's music is so spot on I get emotional every time I hear him sing, and I'm a guy who hates getting emotional...God bless.

I am just so wrapped in what he has released so far. It's so refreshing to see/hear music written from the soul vs written for the Spotify/KZfaq algorithm. Funny thing is, in doing that, he also actually cracked the algorithm.

Yeah, he says of himself, "I barely know my way around the guitar", so I think his playing is bound to be relatively simple without a huge amount of variety.

I believe that Chris is being held close to God. That crescendo of emotion you experience when listening is because he brought you closer to Him, even if just for a few minutes. Our souls know the truth even when our bodies try to hide us away. Follow your soul. Let's all go home together. I want you there. So does He. ❤🔥🍻

This is just a regular man, singing about the deepest core he’s felt his entire life, or even just recently in his life BUT that doesn’t change the fact that he means everything he is saying in his songs. You can see it in his expressions. Hear it in his voice… And you hit the nail this isn’t about one section of the population. I saw the video of the tribal laborers reviewing this and I connected with everything they had to say about how the song made them feel. This sound is so universal and raw it hits everyone exactly where it needs to. Keep up the great work man and stay blessed!

Sometimes amazing artists go under the radar and I think reaction channels have given a lot of those artists a second chance. With that in mind, I would like Michael to consider shining a light onto Dirt Miller. Ren did so recently and increased his subscriber count by quite a bit, but the man still only has 14,000 subscribers and is making music that's both unique and timeless and he simply should have far more attention on him than he has. Michael, please do consider checking out "Dirt Miller - Guitar Symphony No. 1"(no vocals on this one), "D1" "Troubled By Silence", "Kansas City" and literally anything else on his channel. Your insight on the man's vocals, songwriting and guitar playing would be much appreciated to a lot of us that can't quite put into words why he's brilliant because we don't make music and it would greatly help bring more eyes to him.

I know nothing about guitars, I just clicked because of Oliver, thank you for an honest observation, truly, you did a real honest evaluation of him! Not biased! I truly believe that this man’s words and playing that guitar are his heart and mind, he’s playing the song and words of his day to day life! Like so many of us. Amazing talent. You as well Sir! Is that some special guitar he has. It looks different?? Thanks

Last I checked I thought we were still a free country..Oliver definitely feels what he's singing, and he has the right and freedom to sing about it, it should be appreciated! The fact that he believes what he Is singing is the reason why he is hitting so many people in the heart!

I just want to commend you on your perspective of views. I’ve seen so many people grasping at straws on either extremes. Just like you said, just appreciate it for the art that it is, the soul that’s in the art. And respect it as such. Always enjoy your videos and thoughts.

I’m sorry, but if you can’t see that Chris is singing about the realities of the world today, you’re living in an illusion. He’s put into lyrics the true feelings of the world, and he’s not afraid to be brutally honest. The world needs this right now, more than ever.

As an artist Oliver is compelled to speak the words that pour from his soul from his perspective on life experiences. That's what makes him real.

I worked at a local TV news station for many years. Management would occasionally bring in consultants (we called them insultants) who would be tasked with improving our on-air performance. The most memorable quote from those interactions: "The key to this job is sincerity. Once you can fake that, you have it made!" The consultant wasn't lying. The people that go to the top in TV news are the most accomplished liars. The same is true in politics, and the people are no longer falling for it. I agree with Michael that some of Chris's amazing popularity is his sincerity. He is not faking it, and it is a breath of fresh air to our souls constantly bombarded with lies and illusions.

Watching your reactions to Olivers music just reminds me of the honest pragmatism of the American people. You seem like a great guy. I haven't played guitar in 15 years. I subscribed, who knows might dig the old acoustic out of the closet.

He reminds me of a modern Townes Van Zandt. He’s completely devoted to his music and isn’t worried about monetary value and just builds himself up in a grassroots style. He just needs to express himself. Which I didn’t think was possible in the modern age

You missed what he tacked onto the end of the video: "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"

The emotion is real in his voice and playing. It's refreshing because most modern music lacks that. Oliver is the real deal. And I can respect that.

I rescued a starving, abused pup that was living in a junk yard; about 10 years ago. It took years for her to allow 10:48 anyone near her and has always been the sweetest of souls. She’s just happy not being beaten and abused. I don’t even agree with her 100% of the time… anyone dismissing someone unless they agree with a person 100% of the time about 100% of issues… well you might need to look in the mirror and have an honest inventory taken
