Oh my God! I’ve dealt with constant thumb pain for years from playing guitar and tried all kinds of stretches... but nothing helped. If anything, stretches made it worse. But 30 seconds of working that thumb muscle like you demonstrated relieved the pain. I can’t believe it! I will be doing that every day from now on. I’ve pressed directly on the muscle exactly where the pain is, but never thought to press and pull below the pain like that. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I have always felt a little pain in my fretting hand after playing guitar. But since I usually play for several hours, I thought that this was only natural. When I bought a 000 western guitar the problems got a lot worse. Resting my arm did not solve anything, so I feared my guitar days were over. Now I have tried your excersices for the first time, and already my hand feels much better. This looks very promising. Thank you very much for your help, Gary.

This has been invaluable (video 1 and 2) in immediate relief. I searched all kinds of KZfaq channels and yours worked immediately. I appreciate the very detailed instruction as well. I am not a guitar player, but you can imagine as a magician doing sleight of hand moves, just how "magical" it is/was to know there is hope of not being in pain and more importantly for me, getting back to things that use all these muscles and tendons, just like a guitar player as it relates to control. Totally subscribed! On a more personal level I appreciate your good-will. I know it takes a lot of time to create all this educational content. Again... thank you!

Just happened on these videos. Ive been playing on and off in my room for years, and really got into it all again last year in lockdown. I had a goal to Finally master downpicking, and spent ages each nite trying to play Metallica riffs along to various manageable paces with the metronome. Be it from hunched over whilst standing up practicing, or clenching the pick to tightly when picking, practicing, I have developed tennis elbow style burns in the elbows, and my shoulders are very tight. I go to sleep fine, but in the mornings, the shoulders are seriously tight and the tendons initially pop, whilst the tendons at the elbows feel like a forest fire. Once Im out and outta the bed, the discomfort dissolves, but its bothersome. Playing guitar itself, the discomfort isnt really there- it happens overnight. So thanks for the advice here. I hope to try it with some results. Many thanks again.

Wow thank you for the in depth explanations as to how to treat yourself. I've been playing guitar for my whole life and I overworked my wrist and forearm at work from pulling heavy manual carts for long periods of time. I have a lot of cracking in my wrists and the pain extends through my forearm on the top and bottom all the way to above my elbow. Your instructions are helping

Great exercises, the only problem is now my right hand fingers that I used to fix the left hand are in pain. Massaging one hand, exercises the other. Works for me. Thanks Much!

I hope this works, I am a musician and unable to use my left hand for the most part. Afraid the other hand may blow out. I'm trying this out. Just bought a "kingbrand" wrap and therapy kit...trying anything. Thank you for this , I had no idea how much my thumbs hurt!

Thank you for these two videos. They are extremely helpful. I am actually a clarinetist and I have to play piano and other instruments. I have been suffering with tendonitis for for about 5 years now and I finally feel like there is an alternative to ace bandages, icy hot and ice. I also am looking forward to looking at your page for better detail about fingers and thumbs. Again thank you!

Thank you so much man! I've been a professional gamer in the making since i was about 8 years old and ive never streched or known how to release the tightness and recently its become to the point where i cant use the keyboard at all so i've been hindered very much, but these techniques have really been working to improve my condition and my keystrokes per minute is skyrocketing, thank you so much! :D

Thank you so much! I have struggled with pain in my thumb and index fingers as well as my wrist for 7 years or so and this seems to be helping tremendously. It had gotten so bad that I had to drop out of college because I couldn't practice. I hope to pursue a professional career in music so you can understand how much this has bothered me. I just started with these techniques but will follow up after a bit more work on it. Again thank you!
