Are the shows there mostly new stuff or is it a mix if new and used items?

They still import some Norinco ammo here, I've only seen 7.62x39 and 7.62x25 in recent imports. I thing the 9x18mm Mak is not popular enough up here for them to be bothered with bringing in new stuff. Oddly they dont seem to be bringing in Chinese 9x19mm Luger ammo, it must not be cost competitive enough.

The Chinese made ammo is generally loaded up to full power military specifications.

I tend to spend a lot of time at the gun shows going thru the stuff and talking to the vendors, most of them know me and that can help in getting a deal or two.

I have had great luck at the smaller gun shows in the states. Gotta spend some time and chat with them. Sounds like you’ve had some bad luck at your local shows.

I've heard that from many folks in the USA, and to some degree in Canada as well. I tend to be looking for the old and odd stuff so i think it's easier for me to scrounge up a deal or two.

The shows in Ontario are more expensive than just buying online. Auctions too. Sometimes a lot more expensive.

Well, at the rate of inflation we might as well spend it while it's still worth something!

Yeah, I was pleased with the day and the deals.

I thought I did okay. It's always nice to get some deals to offset the travel expenses, getting there and back was about $90.

Last time I had gone to a gun show was about 10 years ago. Prices there were the same or more than firearm dealers were asking. Might go to one just to get out of house soon.

@@christinamoneyhan5688 If youre in southern Ontario there's one in Jerseyville Oct 9th and Orangeville Oct 23rd I think. I agree on your statement about high vendor prices. There are very few that offer decent prices and others that are open to negotiate. I'm mainly there to see cool stuff and most importantly, be around like-minded people .

That's a good deal on those. The old Japanese made Bushnell Scopechief was a pretty good scope.

@@314299 Yes sir! I came across a sweet lady with 2 large bins marked "$50 each" full of random scopes. I spent a good 5 mins on each bin and found all 4 Scopechief's at the bottom of the 2nd bin.

We have pretty much the same group of guys at the various shows here, much of the stuff is the same but there is some turnover and that keeps it interesting.

Not that long ago we had a group of guys that traveled about working a circuit of shows. Many covered specific niches like slings and holsters, Mil-surp rifles of various countries, gun parts, ammo, pistol and rifle magazines, or books. For the most part, they were friends, and made referrals to each other. Us long timers knew them as well, and could easily find them for particular wants. Many other tables were occupied by private individuals thinning out their collections. Sounds like old fogey lore now.

@@slowhand1198 That sounds pretty much like the shows here. My big concern is the advancing age of many of the vendors.

I made a few trips out to the vehicle to offload my purchases. Took a look at your revolver video, that's a nice looking piece and you did a good job getting it back in order.

We fared off pretty well at my place but a lot of folks had a lot of damage to property and even now a lot of homes are still without power.

Yikes, $70! I guess next gun show I had best buy the other box if the vendor still has it.

I've cast 50 grain .223" bullets in a single cavity mold so I can appreciate what it must be like to cast .25 ACP bullets. I'll email you about the dies, thanks.

Considering that they were in this spot for the first time and they had to reschedule it due to lat weeks weather they seemed to have had decent attendance, and folks were buying stuff. Too bad you were not in the neighborhood, I think you would have done decent had you some tables set up.

The one dealer who had reloading powder in quantity also had primers, but it did not look like he had a lot. I did not see any prices on them and did not enquire as to price as I was not looking to buy any.

I think I've seen that stuff. Sure looks like it's the same ammo as I got. I think one of the other vendors has Chinese steel case 9X18 ammo as well, but in a different style of box.

Like every gun show it rather depends on what sort of stuff you are looking for. I guess I'm easy amused as I have wide interests, for me it was worth the drive but it might not have been for others.

That would be interesting. I'm not sure what would be a suitably scale action for such a rifle.

On the plus side no one had to look at my face in this video!
