Hard to believe it's taken so long really, electric motors have been around for a very long time. The reason is batteries of course and big oil companies keeping ic alive and making money.

So they can pollute more? I do understand what you're saying... maybe the real challenge is how we can convert existing vintage cars/motorcycles so others can enjoy them in 100 years time? I dont believe the future are gasoline motors.

This is hardly converting a Beetle to electric: it is just connecting batteries to a motor with a current control.

Yes, but really it's just the past come back round again. Electrics we're first after all. Going all the way back to a professor in Virginia who in the 1830s converted a carriage into one. To Porsches very first car the p1 in 1898 was electric. Even Henry Ford's wife drove an electric. N.Y. also for a while had banned combustion engine vehicle's inside city limits. Up to the 1920s gm actually sold almost as many electrified commercial use trucks as they did the ice version's. And yes if you search you will find out all of this is true!

@@MrFGs electrics we're first and if not for endless war for "cheap oil" and the invention of the electric starter motor(oh how ironic an electric motor is required for every ice vehicle just to operate.😁 Do some research. As every single ice vehicle has not only mutiple electric motors but also a battery(which it cannot function without. So why use a non renewable source to power them? Solar, wind, tidal, geo thermal and to some extent nuclear are all superior options. Vs relying on fossil fuels and the never ending cycle of find a deposit, drill for it, extract it, transport it, store it, refine it, store it again. Transport it again, store it again, pump it again, then finally burn it. All of which uses up vast amounts of energy, causes emissions on a truly insane global scale, environmental damage from oil spills, fracking land collapses, pump&wellexplosions, vehicle fires(in the US alone a combustion engine vehicle catches fire every 3-4 minutes per the nfpa numbers. Oil leaks, leaching into local ground water sources from gasoline storage tanks, pipelines leaking etc. Oh and it of course also requires electric motors for all that pumping, plus massive amounts of electricity for refining it. Just lookup how every refinery has direct line's from the nearest power generating station's. Because they draw so much power. In Britain a study done by fully charged showed each refinery uses more electricity in operation per hr than it would take to charge 400,000+bevs simultaneously. Oil pump jacks alone here in the US use enough energy monthly to power converting all commercial use vehicle's to electric power. Again those are electric motors consuming electricity just to pump oil. Why not convert and use the same or less energy to run electric vehicle's 🤔

@@4literv6 in theory dude. I work in renewable power generation in the uk & Europe. Offshore wind farms, onshore, nuclear, energy from waste. There’s no network for it mate. It’s not possible to get the gigawatts required round the country cost effectively. That’s before you consider the harmonics created by large ac/dc converters/chargers. Tesla for example are tons of aluminium, almuninium is the most non environmentally friendly metal to manufacture. Then there’s tons of lithium, cobalt, and the damage that’s doing to the enviroment to mine cobalt :( Then you’ve the safety issues that no one speak off. Lithium does this thing called thermal runaway, terrifying. Basically there’s no suppressing it until the chemical reaction is over. Fire departments are equipped to deal with that, and if they were, then you have a huge environmental issue with disposing of whatever chemicals you tried to use to suppress it. It literally makes zero sense other than the fact it’s making the rich richer & the poor poorer. In the uk they’re using tax payers money to subsidise them, that by definition is communism. Anyway if EV makes you happy each to their own. But I don’t want to see you crying if it burns your house down some night when the charger or battery faults on full load
