My Chow Chow is a rescue. He is my 5th Chow I'm raising. He was about 6 years old when I adopted him, 6 years ago. I didn't really adopt him, he CHOSE me. He wouldn't let anybody near him or touch him. All I did was to sit in a chair outside in the yard, look him straight in the eye and opened my arms out to him. Without hesitation he came right up to me, put his head in my lap so I could rub him. I knew at that moment, he was my dog. He's the largest Chow Chow I've ever seen, I'm 75 so I've seen a few. He is 6 inches at the withers taller than the AKC standard. He was skin and bones at 70 lb when I got him. He slowly filled out to a hefty 120#. He's not fat. He's just a big boy. It's just the two of us. I've had several Chows reach 16 years. I hope my guy can beat that record. I do not feed my dog processed food. I cook healthy meals from scratch every night. It's either ground beef with rice and broccoli or boneless chicken quarters with rice and chicken bone broth. I also believe in bone meal and vitamin supplements for a balanced meal and a healthy dog. He is my shadow. I enjoy his company. He will not sleep on the couch or the bed, but he'll be on the floor right beside me. He's a rough coat shaded cinnamon.

Same thing happened with my MoMo. After I rescued him & started caring for him, he did not want to be away from me. I have 4 rescue pups in my small pack. I'm very glad to see he hit it off with the other dogs. Great rescue!

This video got to my heart. What a nice man. I wish there were more like him. The video is heartwarming. It's nice to see an animal lover rescue a pup on the side of the road as he did. People decide they don't want their dog or cat and they just drop them along the road. There should be a law against this. Once someone owns a pet they should be responsible for the safety of that pet. There should be fines given out to people that abuse their pets or leave them on the street. Fines may deter people from dropping off a pet they don't want. It is definitely a big job where more workers are needed on the road to keep an eye out.

I have a little rescue that was a year old when I got him last June. He was kept in a Kennel his whole life. He was terrified of riding the car. He didn't bark for two weeks, didn't growl for 4 weeks, now he has to go every time the car starts. He's an awesome boy. His name is Buddy Holly.
