@Jeff Sparky Breathing is only one aspect of a warm up. Also realize that these ladies are cranking down 6-7 min miles as their getting the blood moving warmups relative to the 9-15 min most people will take for a warm up mile. With these short races you want to be fully warmed up with a few hard strides in the warm up to wake up the system to be ready for race pace the instant the gun goes unlike say a half marathon or longer distance. For short track it's not uncommon to hit a 6-8 RPE on the breathing scale during the warmup.

This video can teach SO many lessons: athletic dedication, sacrificing for a team, feeling joy for another person's accomplishments, being proud of your own accomplishments without apology, working as a team, and the list goes on. Thanks for sharing this on your channel, Gwen. It's the best of Bowerman TC and says a lot about your lack of ego. Y'all are amazing.

My daughters and I got the opportunity to meet Colleen at the Prefontaine classic this year when it was held in California. Colleen was so great interacting with her fans. She is a great ambassador for the sport and a great inspiration to my daughters. The coolest thing my daughter will remember forever was Colleen inviting her and her track friends on a cool down run after she raced. My daughter was 13 then. She is a fan of Colleen forever.

2:47 makes no mention of crazy leg apparatus lol
@carriejackson9784
@carriejackson9784 4 жыл бұрын
Its called Norma Tec and it applies really tight compression. It feels like when you get your blood pressure taken and they pump up the band tight with air, except over your whole legs. The compression forces all of the lactic acid out of your muscles and moves any blood the has pooled in your muscles since that also causes soreness/ tightness. Definitely a weird feeling wearing them but it helps a ton!

@reeepingk
@reeepingk 4 жыл бұрын
That's about right. Nobody heel strikes in the upper echelons of racing. And you only run up on the balls of your feet when you're really... REALLY pushing. It's actually much easier to run midfoot in spikes because there isn't a huge heel in the way so you can actually land flatter than you would in trainers. That's why shoes designed to run midfoot (flats) often have a very low heel on them.
