More basic gymkhana skills in a parking lot with a few cones. Dramatic improvement in under an hour with a simple drill of riding in a circle.

Nicely done instruction. So many people look at bikes like it's a car jump in and go. It's a very technical and physical vehicle to operate. Just like a gun it can be dangerous in untrained hands. Unless your riding a Harley LOL

I believe it is a combination of people that underestimate the complexity of riding, like you said, AND overestimate their abilities, since they rode a 150 lb. minibike or a scooter, ONCE when they were a kid, and the 800 lb Harley should be exactly the same? I am one of the FEW people on the face of the earth (apparently) that loves motorcycles, yet tries to convince new riders not to do it. Seriously, I may have talked a few hundred people OUT of riding? As soon as you start talking about small bikes, and riding classes, people stop listening. When you start talking about their own personal apocalypse, they start imagining life from a wheelchair/hospital bed.

I don't want to be disrespectful but practicing without full gear it is not a good idea, with full gear he will get literally no scratches if he falls down, everything else is perfect and I'm glad your brother decided to return to this beautiful hobbie

Three minutes in and I have to comment. I'll probably revise and maybe extend later but the number one thing that will keep you alive in heavy traffic is situational awareness. Unfortunately, the human brain really sucks at multitasking. To have any attention available for the traffic around you, the physical operation of the machine has to be as close as possible to instinctive. That takes time. Until then, anything you can do to be more comfortable with the machine is a plus.

good training for the slow speed with clutch is riding next to a person that is walking and they have to macht speed they will have to use rear break and slipping the clutch to do so then he can try the corner part you are trying to learn him.and to learn the clutch let him hold the breaks and try and only use the biting point of the clutch and not stall it then try and ride away sloly with only using clutch then he will understand it

The next step is to stop counterbalancing. In motogymkhana, we want to go as fast as possible and counterbalancing is slow. Practice going to full lock while leaning with the bike(neutral position) and not touching the clutch. Also, the front brake is absolutely key. Being very hard on the front brake as you enter a rotation will make the rider much faster. The goal is to load the front tire and compress the forks for better geometry.

hey man, i drive a street triple R and i can do my circles full lock, but for that to happen i'm one butt cheek of my seat on the other side. and i'm like pushing the bike down to get it into the circle. Am i doing it right this way? is this because my wheels have a greater distance compared to your bike? because i see you turning in so sharp and thats just not hapening for me. and you're like sitting upright! Its more of a problem when doing 8's because of it beeing so low. i have a hard time getting it up right early enough for the second turn. Side note: when doing the turns i'm doing it without clutch control so i'm driving at the speed of clutch out. (so like 7mph) it may be that its because i'm going so fast...

Hey Riddler, full lock riding is impressive - congrats!! I would say there are many answers to your questions, and lots of ways to "skin the cat". The video you saw above is one of many, and after watching a few you might understand better the need for clutch control. Really it is the ESSENCE of gymkhana - at least doing it well. It is a balance of throttle/brake/clutch. Shoot some video and I can coach you thru it?

@@adaptiveagile Like I said above, lots of way to get it done. If you are competing that is entirely a different animal. We do American Gymkhana to improve low-speed skills, which so often translate into some high-speed technique. There are so many way to improve, the best way is always to practice.

The rider should lean in the opposite direction from motorcycle. And one error of rider: does not hug the tank tightly.

There are dozens of advanced techniques, this is a video about the basics, as the title reads. Most folks want to talk about going faster before they master the basics. Basic skills are what we teach - the things so many new riders lack.

Hear in UK ..riding slow around cones in part of motorbike training (CBT .. Compulsory basic training)

And we have 4x as many deaths, since most states have no training or skill tests....
@oldfartuk
@oldfartuk 3 жыл бұрын
@@MotoGiant that's quite shocking ..am surprised that would be allowed ....maybe because in uk we have more twisty roads and lanes , it can be very stop n start kinda riding than US where wide open straight roads is more common and slow riding is not a priority.. not to mention helmet law does change from state to state .. .and during our training period maximum sized bike you allowed is a 125cc untill training is finished then can apply for a full license for a bigger bike... And helmet law is 100% a must by law
@MotoGiant

@@oldfartuk we have some twisty roads here, extremely twisty, but that's where we lose a lot of people they can't ride them they can't even ride in a parking lot and they're probably not wearing a helmet and they did not start out on a small bike they started out on a 800 lb cruiser typically and that's how we lose them

Sir, you are mistaken. Your first mistake is that riding is safe with gear. RIDING is STUPID! YOUR position and evaluation of risk is YOURS. RIDING a MOTORCYCLE is STUPID - if you feel some gear is going to save you from death you are mistaken! Walking around is dangerous, the closer you get to a street, the more danger you are in. Sure, gear will lessen the danger of injury and death, but clashing a motorcycle with any obstacle at speed can be deadly - perhaps you should probably drive a car? You should certainly let others assume their own level of risk since the world is GREY, not black and white.
