The lack of communication is mind-boggling. And Grant actually implies that he didnt even know who to turn to or who his Boss was. I'm sorry, but that's pretty hard to believe! He didnt speak to his Boss about his employment status after several members of the production crew tested positive for Covid. He also chose NOT to find out what the specific Covid protocols were, and its pretty clear that he had no understanding whatsoever of the quarantine protocol. It's hard for me to believe that a big company like NBC that has an HR department full of hundreds of people, had no Covid protocol. - - - Something's "fishy" about what really happened. Again, how come Grant doesnt know WHO his BOSS is?

The interview shows that Langston didnt even know who his Boss was. Do you really believe that? He kept saying that he was hearing about his employment "status" second and third hand (indirectly) after some of the production crew had tested positive for Covid. He also appeared to have very little knowledge about Covid quarantine protocol. Moreover, Grant clearly said that there was no vaccine mandate. He just had to get tested. I think that some of you guys are missing these key nuances and facts.

@@theman7095 You must have not listened to the same interview I did? Grant had a test and it came back negative. By that time, word was getting back to him that he was going to be replaced, so communication works both ways. No one wanted to tell him that he was out if he didn't get the shot and that's what this all comes down to.

@@theman7095 it is tv production. Often times, the “boss” is a team of producers and executives. Seems to be that way here. My church is in the midst of producing a not so low budget movie. There are teams of people in charge. I have paid them directly. If I had a question, I have a good idea who to ask. I have no idea if I would be correct in asking that person and I know the church people involved, personally. What if that person didn’t answer the phone?

I dont know what interview you were watching..... but Langston (admitted) that his employer had no vaccine mandate. I repeat, there was no vaccine mandate. Furthermore, dont you find it rather odd that Grant didnt even seem to know who his Boss was? Why all of the confusion on his part??? In a previous interview, Langston said that he was "invited" to work the final 2 races of the season if he tested negative and went through a brief quarantine. But it doesnt sound like he was really aware of specific Covid protocol. I'm pretty sure that NBC and their HR department are fully aware of the protocol. But according to Grant, he had horrible communication from Lucas Oil and perhaps even Davey Coombs, which he admitted to "ironing" out later. He also didnt even bother with trying to find out what his employment "status" was after the production crew had recorded several positive Covid tests. He implied that he had heard (indirectly) second hand that Ricky was going to be up in the booth and he would have to sit the race out. He felt disrespected by the lack of communication and at that point, decided to quit. Again, after 8 years how does Langston NOT KNOW WHO HIS BOSS is? Why couldnt he have simply had a conversation with his Boss about his employment status? Rumor has it that Grant had been talking about retiring from the booth since back in April so that he could spend more time with his Family. He also spoke about how he was tiring of the airline travel and lack of time to grab a meal because of flight delays during Covid and that his job just wasnt as fun or glamorous as it used to be. - - - I just wish that if this was indeed the case and he wanted to spend more time with his Family, then why not just come out and say that and not make this into some kind of political football. I know that there are fans of his that "dug" this interview. But if you read in between the lines, the lack of communication truly speaks volumes about how unsophisticated some of the people are in this business, including Grant. I wish Grant the best. He had a nice run of 8 years in the booth! But I think that he could have handled this a lot better. And unfortunately, I think he allowed his pride and his "political" views to get the best of him.

We will probably never know. But we do know that Grant said that he had to patch things up with Davey Coombs. Again, I dont think that we know the full story here, but it takes two to Tango when it comes to communicating. It's a 2-way street and GL didnt sound like he cared to.

There's a simple Covid protocol in place in Corporate America and it has nothing to do with potential lawsuits as Langston claims. He's just making a "political" statement when he makes that claim. You either get the vaccine shot or you submit to weekly Covid testing. And if you are within 6 feet of an infected co-worker for more than 15 minutes, you have to go into quarantine. This is just basic stuff and it doesnt sound like Grant had a full understanding of the protocol. Doesnt matter if you are working at NBC or are part of a flight crew with Southwest Airlines. Grant even admitted that there was NO VACCINE MANDATE in place by his Employer. And in his very first interview in which he announced his retirement after 8 years, he clearly stated that NBC had invited him to work the last 2 races if he tested negative and sat-out via quarantine. But he repeatedly said that he didnt want to go home and do that, because he felt "weird" about having to field all kinds of texts from friends as to why he wasnt up in the booth that weekend of the race. I'm sorry folks, but I've lost some respect for GL in the way that he handled this. Rumor has it that he's been wanting to retire since back in April and had grown tired of the "grind" when it comes to Air travel, delays, and lack of accommodations. Grant can decide whether or not he wants to get the free, safe, and effective vaccine. His employer can also decide whether or not they want to keep him employed. They chose not to. It's just freedom. He's not entitled to a job if the employers don't want him there.
