Hi Fatima, Can you share what evidence you submitted to prove your bonafide marriage since you were married for such a short time? Also, how long did the process take you?

Several answers. My grandparents knew each other for three months and got married. They had four great kids and were a loving couple until the day my grandfather died. My grandmother never remarried. Also, I would possibly consider the option of bringing my wife here and dating for awhile, maybe living together. But my government does not give me that option

You guys are awesome. I got approved today in interview today. Marriage case. May 10- file received by USCIS June 20- work permit approved Nov 14- interview scheduled. Dec 13- appeared for interview and officer asked 2 or 3 basic questions and approved. Once again, thanks a lot. We prepared our case on our own with your help and some other KZfaqrs as well.

When did you get married?
@christopherburnett1745
@christopherburnett1745 Жыл бұрын
Why? Why marry so quickly? Have you ever fallen in love with someone on the other side of the world? It isn't an easy situation to deal with. This isn't like being penpals with someone. There is a wonderful woman on another continent who I talk to daily. We are trying to figure things out and get her here on a student or work visa so that we can see what living together would be like, but those aren't exactly easy either. What about the F-1 fiance visa? If you know someone for a year and then file for a fiance visa, is that too quick? By the time you're approved (possibly) and get them here and marry, you will have known each for two years. Is that slow enough for the US government? 🙄

I have been married to my husband for of 25 years, he is from Europe and I am in the US. This is not an easy road so first make sure your relationship is “super” strong or you won’t make it. Second one of you will have to give up their culture for a long time to get the legal things worked out. Depending on what country she is from, she can come on a travel visa for 3 months. I would do that first. Then depending on your situation you should go to her country and see what that culture is like. Culture differences along with language will be your biggest challenge. If she comes to the US to immigrate she will not be allowed to work for 3 years and you have to prove you are able to support her for that time. Then she can apply for a Green card which will take another 2 years and a bunch of paper work to get done. But you both need to know with out a doubt that one of you can live in the others country. It is the biggest challenge you face. I would say you both need to fly back and forth for a year to figure out if this is something you want to pursue. I would not change a thing in my relationship but there are so many challenges over other marriages, work, family, culture, languages, jobs, future, housing. Life will through you all kinds so make sure your love and respect for each other is strong enough to take it. Most do not make it, but it is possible. Age also can play a part in all of this also. Do not go into it blindly the challenges are real.

I was doing video chat with my wife for over a year before we got married. We now have been married a year and four months, currently and have been together about 3 years total. But we did get married soon after meeting, but you have to remember that it was because of Covid that we couldn't visit sooner. I get what you are saying, Jim. But I still haven't got my I-130 approved, and its been 13 months. By the time I get to the NVC level at this point, we will have been married for 2 years. We speak to each other daily, and the only desire we have is to be together. Whether or not that means, she comes here, or I go there, I want to be with my wife. We want to start our family, and we don't have all the time in the world to screw around, waiting for the government. She just turned 35 so time is of the essence for us to have kids. So I pray that our petition gets approved, without any more hassles or delays.

The religious aspect shouldn't be overlooked. My wife (a Filipina) and I are Christians and we take our faith pretty seriously. When we met we both had the goal of finding a like-minded spouse and we don't believe in the "try-before-you-buy" mentality of dating for multiple years, sleeping together, living together, and only getting married after giving your partner ample time to screw something up. We were satisfied that we have similar goals and beliefs, and got married after dating for about 7 months. Once you find the right person, why wait? I realize that by today's standards this is a lightning-fast timeframe, but it was the norm not so long ago. Does USCIS care about any of that? I guess we'll find out.

Aaron, thank you for sharing your experience with us. You are right, every relationship is different as well as the indiviuals' preferences to handle their relationship. For immigration, we always suggest filing the strongest case possible to reduce the chances of getting a Request For Evidence and, therefore, delaying the case.

If the USCIS believe that they are performing utmost scrutiny to detect fraud cases, they should be able to know which marriages are fraud and which ones aren’t NOT based on this specific factor. This is not a benchmark. There are many reasons why people get married quickly but one important reason is religion. Christianity and Islam both clearly state “Do not delay marriage, and marry as soon as you can if you have the means to do so to avoid a life of sin”

The chance of WW3 involving nuclear weapons happening soon is higher and higher weekly. Also, COVID19 taught people to do something quickly. USCIS and State Department need to approve petitions quickly. There are close to 7 million backlogged family based immigration cases.

Thank you You right. But like you say immigration will say this is not real love real love or fake love there not law for that. But immigration could know this is a fake married or real married. Real love and married is two different thing. Love is private for each person no law can tell you you have to love obligation.

How about marriage after a year of meeting and dating, 6 months of which was living together!
@bfourney
@bfourney Жыл бұрын
Well the answer is the system basically forces you to. I’m not really ready to marry my girlfriend, nor she to me, but I love her and want a life with her and she probably won’t be able to stay here, have a life here, and I don’t want to risk her possibly not being able to come back due to her visa restrictions. So if she doesn’t qualify for an O1, doesn’t want to work in an industry that does H1B, and doesn’t have the funds for an E1 or E2 yet marriage is our only realistic option

I chatted online FB with my husband since July 2017 and met him in person May 2019. I landed in Islamabad airport in the morning and married him after Asar prayer the same day. He is Muslim Pakistani and I am Muslim Mexican American. We never dated anyone else and were desperate to be together. Our justification to getting married immediately was because we are religious. Another reason for the speediness was because it was done behind his family's back. His family had him engaged to a girl just a month before I started chatting with him without his consent. Yes it sounds like a red flag but loves makes you do crazy things. After nearly 1 month of marriage and the news had broken out, his engagement was finished and his family wanted to meet me. Talk about nerve-wracking. I stayed in Pakistan for about 3 years with his family, traveling back to the US three times. The third time was to establish my domicile after I applied for the I- 130 March 2021. We currently have 2 daughters together, both US citizens. Is this gonna be hard to explain or what?

Jim, i respectfully disagree with you in that i believe 6 months to 1 year after meeting is not a long time for two pol in love to get married… if less than 3 months, i think thats very fast, but not 6 months to 1 year

Remember he is just telling you what the government is going to say. He's not telling you what's right or wrong, let alone what is best for you. A good lawyer tells you how things are. Telling you how things should be is a waste of time and money. Save those conversations for the pubs. Talk is free there

This gives you an edge because the green card you get is NOT going to be conditional. If you have been married for more than 2 years, when you get a green card, that is a normal 10 years green card. People married less than 2 years when they apply and get a green card have it only valied for 2 years before they have to file a "Removal of Conditions" application and prove they are still in a legitimate marriage/relationship. So that's a step you will save money in and time.
