@colewhitcomb65733 жыл бұрын
Proper epoxy job. Sand for wood, grind for concrete. Sweep, vacuum, roll your entire project. It doesn’t cure as fast as you think. Wear spiked shoes so you can walk throughout the epoxied area and throw your flakes at the ceiling and they will disperse much much more evenly. Then once your chips and epoxy have sat for 24hrs. Come back and scrape the surface with a scraper to get any loose flakes up. Vacuum the whole floor then SEAL it with a good sealer. Helpful tip is to squeegee the epoxy on a garage floor while someone with a roller follows you
@gregorymacneil28362 жыл бұрын
You did a very good job! As for the chips - remember it is a cargo trailer floor that you are going to walk on, drive on, drop things on and spill things on - if you really don’t like the way the chips turned out on the walls you can always cover with a black or grey vinyl base. I think you epoxy floor and upturn looks great!

@conservativechristian85083 жыл бұрын
I used one step Behr Garage Floor paint and added chips on a previous trailer. It has held up well. I have a new trailer sitting in the driveway and think I will use porch paint on it. Planning on Harley Orange with silver/black non-skid flakes. I may use some aluminum diamond plate in the center of the ramp and rear tire contact area.
@Markofalltrades3 жыл бұрын
That Harley orange with the silver flakes will look really cool! That’ll be a great look. You can’t beat the diamond plate either. Sounds like you’ll have a nice setup.

Hello sir, thank you for posting the whole process. KZfaq has speed adjustment so, I just used that where needed. I've got a little pile of questions. I hope that's okay. I am wondering how much, if any, paint/epoxy you had left over? Would it be worth trying to mix some of each A and B into a separate container to preserve the rest for another project, etc? Once mixed, does it get warm like typical epoxy sealant? Does it dry really hard in a brittle sort of way? That is to say, if the floor were to flex with the movement of the trailer, or expand and contract with heat and cold, would it crack or separate at the seams? And final questions, did the the paint fill in your screw holes? Do you think you'd be able to take/back the screws out, paint it, and then replace them for access later on? I also liked the idea to paint a few inches up the wall. I'll def. use that for myself, as well. Thank you for your time, and your service, and I look forward to more videos in the future.
@Markofalltrades4 жыл бұрын
Rayne, thanks for the comment. Once I mixed part A and part B together after I had completed the project I had about a 1/4 of a gallon left over. I lathered on the epoxy pretty thick and I used some of the epoxy on my shelves. I think it's a good idea to preserve some into A and B parts, but I'm not sure how the longevity of that would be when it comes to shelf life once its open and resealed? For your second question of the flex, for the most part, it seems like it will flex decently well. It was only brittle on the edges, but it really wasn't anything to complain about I think for the purposes I'm using it for. The paint did fill in the screw holes and you can't see where they were screwed in. It'll be a pain to replace, but I think if you had good plywood to begin with you'll be ok. One last piece of advice, I went 2 inches up on the wall, I wish I went a little bit higher. I hope that helped!
@Art-nd7mh3 жыл бұрын
First paint side walls then throw the spec on the wall , sweep up the floor then roll the floor and apply the specs. For the rust use meradic acid.
@Markofalltrades3 жыл бұрын
I wish I would have done that looking back at it.
@29903023 жыл бұрын
To tackle the rust it's easy...buy POR15, they have it in semi-gloss and gloss, since that's the back of the trailer I'd go with the gloss. There is no prep really either, it bonds to the metal. If you like you could blast it with something first or hit it with a DA but POR15 is the BEST, you'll see it when you pay for it too!
@TheMattcwynar3 жыл бұрын
Just as a note to por15 I love that stuff but if you use it anywhere it will get any kind of sun exposure it will break down and come off. It does not have any UV block. But after using just top coat it with a paint that does and your all set. Just learned this from experience.

You really did a great job. I think your sides look fine. I think you even did a pretty decent job with the flakes. When spring gets here I'm using that exact same kit and color that you did. I have a friend of mine who's going to put the flakes down I am no good at things like that lol. How did that anti-slip stuff work out? Was it worth it or just don't waste money? I have seen where some guys get sand and mix it up in the can or sometime when the paint is almost dry they throw the sand across the floor and once the floor is 100% done they go back with brooms and sweep up all the loose sand. I don't like that method I think it made the floor too rough.
@Markofalltrades3 жыл бұрын
Thanks I really appreciate that! I think the anti slip worked out pretty well. I should have used two bags looking back on it. I wouldn’t have thought of using sand. I hope yours turns out well this spring, good luck!

Thanks for the video. Very interesting. Two questions...#1 - are the chips sharp (pokey) on the feet after everything is dry? #2 - any idea if cracking might occur is this done over a insulated subfloor in the trailer (i.e. put down 1" insulation board, install 1/2" plywood over the insulation, then apply the epoxy to the plywood)....thoughts? Thanks again!
@Markofalltrades3 жыл бұрын
Peter I appreciate the comment. Once the chips have settled in after the drying process I didn’t find them to be rough at all. I did add a non slip additive to it so walking barefoot on it isn’t comfortable but with socks you can’t tell. I’m not sure about the cracking.
