For those wondering: The Basil Seed thing is actually a real thing but it's slightly exaggerated for dramatic effect. They need to be ingested and it's males who are affected most over females. And much like apple seeds you'd need to eat buckets a day to see any noticeable infertility effects.

Hailan is actually the one concubine the Emperor treats the best in the series. If you think about it, he punished Noble Consort Hu when she tormented Hailan with the false charcoal accusations. Allowed her to move in with Ruyi. He then allowed her to stay with Ruyi when she was initially confined to Yanxi palace before going into the cold Palace. He then allowed Hailan to retain Yanxi for herself despite being of lower status, not sending her to suffer under another concubine. He permitted her to visit Ruyi secretly, and never publicly reprimanding her. He also listened and took her seriously when she spoke of the others misdeeds, and did not let her to be physically harmed when confined in the office of careful punishment. He had more respect and genuine affection for her in many ways then even Ruyi.

I think that the reason why Hailan was treated best was because she's both cunning, beautiful, could be docile at times, and most importantly, she doesn't actually love the emperor.

In the book (read from another’s comment) Hailan was raped by the emperor so I figured he felt bad for what he did to her. He never pushed her to serve him and gave her space. He genuinely tried to do right by her and their son. You’re right though, she was treated with the most respect.

Just realized that no over took Hilan seriously, and it bit them in the ass. She turned into one of the best master minds and no one but Riyu saw it. Hilan was still kind put very guarded and not just with sheilds and she uses everything she can to win

I hope Ruyi will not forgive and never serve him in bed forever. He consented to those who made grave mistakes and did not punish them gravely as he does Ruyi. Ruyi is a sad case but her conscience and heart is pure.

我每天在醒著時看一遍，在睡覺時聽一遍，真的太喜歡「如懿傳」了！劇情中的每一位優質藝人、優秀編導、動人的主題歌曲、尤其是那些一句句發人省思、深入人心、感觸良多的台詞，每一句都是金句。尤其是我唯一的偶像「霍建華和周迅」將「弘曆與青櫻」這個角色演活了！讓忠實觀眾將大清歷史上最強盛的三位明君之一的「乾隆皇帝」被現代人賜了一個「渣龍」的封號，若是地下有知，一定會氣得坐起來大罵「你們不知道朕是中國歷史上最賢德能幹的明君嗎？」，這個有奇恥大辱「乾隆皇帝」的封號，就等同認同了「霍建華」，我的偶像，華哥一流的演技了！所以深深吸引我，讓我百看不厭，百聽不厭啊！

even tho HuangShang can have as many women as he wants each year, the Empress is different. Empress is the wife, and all other women are concubine, which by definition is actually a servant to the family. People don't know anymore but the origin of the character '妾' for concubine, actually meant a women with a disgrace and crime, it shows a woman under punishment gears. The drama series don't show it but 'divorcing' a empress is a HUGE deal, almost second to if the emperer himself is giving seat to his son. Plus empress usually come from prominent families that give the country a lot of money or military support.

Cause like she the main wife also even though the emperor try to punish her it won’t really work since she came from a really powerful family, and plus if the emperor does punish her the emperor can lose a their support in the court and it won’t be good . Also if he did expose her it would bring a lot of shame to the royal family and the emperor wouldn’t want that since he has a lot of pride and honor

Who poisoned noble consort Hui? The only people I imagine could be guilty because they had enough power to make an imperial doctor do it is the emperor, empress dowager or empress. Like Ruyi I don't think empress was the mastermind because noble consort Hui wasn't a treat to her because she didn't have any child and she was loyal and useful (for her strong family background) to empress. That leaves only two suspects: Emperor and empress dowager. But, what reason could they had to want noble consort Hui dead?

Another video revealed that it was the Emperor. He wasn't trying to kill her, it was to prevent her from getting pregnant due to her illness. It was pretty scummy for him to just decide this for her without her input, but the basil seeds probably bumped things farther than it would have if the basil seeds had been discovered earlier.

@@TinaChen-qc6ic 因為皇上不相信高貴妃會真心對待永璜，高貴妃也確實是看重他是長子的身份，而不是像如懿是真心心疼這個阿哥，所以皇上不會讓高貴妃利用孩子來爭權奪利～加上高貴妃跟皇后交好，皇上也一直知道皇后他們的野心～所以明明知道皇后跟高貴妃討厭如懿，還是故意再皇后她們面前讓永璜自己選，而皇上也知道以如懿的聰明是她想辦法想要救出被虐待的大阿哥，因為如果皇上直接問都沒問，直接把大阿哥給如懿，皇后跟高貴妃一定會反彈，畢竟她們位份都在如懿之上，永璜自己選她們擇沒話說，如懿進了冷宮，皇上都寧願把永璜給已有孩子的純妃，都沒有想過給高貴妃😅

@@user-lo9sv5jp4h 是的，权衡利弊之下肯定不会让高贵妃抚养他，只是看如懿后面没养他多久就去了冷宫，他在纯妃那过得也很惨，感觉要是跟着高贵妃至少待遇没那么差

@@TinaChen-qc6ic 其實蠻心疼永璜的，他只有再富察皇后死時，走偏了一下，他最快樂的時光應該只有小時候跟著如懿時，純妃雖然沒虐待他但也不在乎他，偏心不只一點點，加上嘉妃又害他，告訴他，他的親媽是富察皇后害死的，他才走偏更多，認為要靠自己掌握大權，就算利用如懿也無所謂，唯一有點看不慣他當面嫌棄自己福晉😧他要死前，純妃也再旁邊，他只有真心覺得對不起如懿，因為他曾動心思想利用這個唯一真心疼愛過他的人，他也完全沒有怪純妃，所以純妃那時也很難過

Как жаль, что нет перевода на русском языке. Столько серий читать субтитры бегущие как поезд в метро только портить глаза. И титры все не прочитать и жизнь героев на экране не посмотреть. Очень достойная дорама, но увы смотреть тяжело. Жаль!

They can be but only after you eat ingest a huge amount. Similar to almonds containing trace amounts of cyanide and coriander seeds I believe (or is it dizzy corn?) cause a dizzying affect. You must eat a massive number of them.
