Thank you for speaking up and telling this reality many of us endure having covid virus. I lost my hair 2 month after I got covid. I have not regained hair growth like i had before covid effected me. The helth care here in Sweden is not qualified to have knowledge to this problem. I have no help here and I don't know were to get help with this. Yes this hair loss is affecting my psychological health tremendous.

My Dermatologist said mine was Telegon Afflufium was caused by Covid Pfizer vaccine in December 2021. She also said she's had many patients with same symptoms 3 months after the Vacinne (mostly women, but men sometimes too). I did not have Covid - or if I did it was minor. She says some people do not react well to vaccines. Mine is because the last vaccine I had was 26 years ago when I was a kid, so that likely played a part into not reacting well to vaccines. To regrow hair I'm now doing 6x sessions of Platelet Rich Plasma treatment, Lazer hair hat, and Monixidil, vitamines collagen amino acids etc. Had DHT blood test done, my value was 12 which was way below the 'normal male pattern baldness which is 21-59' if I recall, so its not alogen afflufium (male pattern baldness). It is months of JUNE and I keep shedding since April when I first noticed. I still don't see regrowth. They said ETA 4-6 months for small hairs to grow slowly (eta 1year for final results). I've spent tons of money - now its just wait and see if it will regrow back. Ohh yes, and telegon loves thinning the male patter hairline more exagerated, even though scalp microscope shows no scarring, the follicle hole is still there thankfully.... So yea - they said "ohhh the vaccine is safe!" riiiiggggghhhhtttt. That's why I waited till last minute, I should have just gone with my instinct and never took it. Add insult to injury - had to backoff on psoriasis anti-inflamatory chinese medince a little, but now back on it combined with hair treatments. Yea fun!

Thank you Prof. I started shedding hair after my booster jab in Dec 21 (AZ) and then had Covid in April 22 and that exacerbated hair fall and it is still continuing (Aug 22). I had waist length hair and only good thing I had and now am so stressed - not sure what to do. I am in UK and doubt the NHS would recommend any medication. Any advise would be helpful. Many thanks.

Although I was never tested for covid-19, my daughter that lives with me did test positive for the disease when she became ill, shortly afterwards (1-2 days later) I too fell ill, so we just assumed that I also had covid as well. I was stricken with this illness this past April 2023, and the duration of the illness lasted for two weeks, but still not fully recovered from it by the 3rd week, 4 weeks into it I started feeling like my old self again. Neither my daughter or I have received any of the Covid-19 vaccines, or the booster shots. Over the past couple of months, I think I have been losing hair, but it was not really noticeable, then two weeks ago I did notice losing more hair than usual, but a about a week and half ago, I started losing tons and tons of hair. I had thick hair, but now due to this hair loss, my hair has become very very thin, and even though my hair is thinning out all over my scalp, my front part almost seems as if there is a bald patch with just a few hair strands remaining. Without washing, brushing or pulling on my hair, my hair just drops every day, all day long from my scalp, non-stop. I went to the dermatologist and seen a PA for the issues, she was not concerned with running any test, she told me that she believes that the hair loss is "covid related", she advised me just to wait it out, and if I wanted to use over the counter Rogaine for men, then I could. I told the PA that I was experiencing scalp irritation, itching and tingling, and she said that was not a symptom of covid related hair loss. I have no idea where to turn to now. The PA did run a cbc blood panel which all came back normal, but absolutely no other test were ordered or conducted in order to rule out any other factor as to why I am losing hair, is this normal medical practice/protocol with an assuming covid related hair loss or would an actual Doctor of dermatology be a little less assuming, and a little more attentive to this highly concerning matter. I am 60 years old. I feel like I have been pushed out to sea without having any paddles and a compass. 😞P.S. I also have type 2 diabetes, in which I do not take insulin for, I try to control it with diet, but I am poorly doing so, my A1c presently is 8.3, and I have hypertension controlled through BP medication, in which none of those medications can cause hair loss.

I took a major hit to hair all over my body after being vaccinated. I never had a substantial covid infection. The hair has remained gone for about half a year now and it’s been a slow steady march losing more and more with very little regrowth since.

Thanks for your video. Got Covid in very early December 2022, and my hair started thinning and losing in mid-Jan 2023. Then I got PRP two weeks ago (mid-Feb 2023) and so far I have been losing a tremendous amount of hair. So scary. Something like easily 300-400 hairs in a day. Still losing hair but less say 200 hairs in a day. I had very thick hair before last Dec but I would easily say I lost 50% of that in the TE phase. Based on your experience, how long will it take to notice new hair growth e.g. I think t would be around April, right? thanks in advance.

Hey dr if someone is already predisposed to genetic hairloss (androgenetic alopecia) does having telogen effluvium accelerate the process of miniaturization if someone already had androgen alopecia. Or they both can happen together but they both go their separate ways without interfering with each other .

Hello doc. I have alopecia areata that started 2 months ago with a small patch. I got covid a few weeks ago and that made it much worse and i have lost atleast 50 % of my hair with lots of bald patches now showing. Does cyclosporine help along with clobestal topical for the scalp? By when can i expect to regrow the hair back? Feeling quite miserable as never had alopecia or any other auto immune issues prior to this 😔

Hello there, I had a long bout of sepsis due to pneumonia without Covid 19 in december of '21. I started losing large amounts of hair in March/April. I also experience intermittent scalp pain. Could this hair loss be related to the sepsis?

I have the scalp pain, soreness and hair loss. It started 2months after covid. I have diclofenec that is a anti inflammatory drug. Would that be good for the scalp? I also have little bumps on my scalp. Have you seen that with post covid?
