When you said "If someone walked into my salon with that, I would say NOT TODAY GIRL!" It made me think of when I was about 15, and I tried to go from PURE jet black (I'm talking I was compulsive about absolutely no undertones, and had been dying it black a long time) to platinum white at home. It looked exactly like her hair, except imagine the platinum taking on the roots and everything else remaining pitch black, no lift at all lmao Anyway, I literally had a salon guy tell me "I won't touch it" lmfao The girl who took on the challenge and fixed it completely salvaged my hair though so 10/10 for her -$230/$10 for me c:

I tried to have my “box black” hair dyed down to brown for my sister’s wedding. She bleached me to ORANGE, then dyed it the colour I asked for. It was half reddish brown at the crown. FREAKING. ORANGEY. The bottom half. I had an emergency appointment with my Mum’s master colourist (Redken) two days before the wedding. Fixed it like it was no thang. Lesson learned.

Once I got chemical burns when a hairdresser was bleaching my roots, thankfully my hair didn't fall out where it burned but the hair became really kinky and weirdly textured. She still had me pay 100$ for the appointment. It hurt so bad 😣

I've been binge watching your channel all day while coloring my hair at home, and you said it when you said "if you do it, do your research!" The reason I started doing mine at home is that a friend who was actually a hairdresser did pink ombre on my hair then moved to KANSAS, so I knew it was going to be expensive to keep up or I would have to pay for a corrective color, so I took a chance on re-doing it myself. I bought all the right stuff, and it takes me a solid day to do it. When I watch all these videos I see exactly what is going wrong with them before it happens! If you're going to do dramatic color at home, it really becomes a hobby where you spend a lot of time learning and getting good at it.

So when I was nineteen I died part of my hair pink. And it was a great look, but I ended up having to cut it off. But I learned then that even though I have dark hair, my hair bleached really quickly. One bleach brought me to almost platinum and it was really surprising. And I didn't lose any hair so that's great

When will people understand that bleaching should be done by a professional, like any other drastic procedure? Hair shouldn't be mushy, that's a bad sign. I don't ask friends to be a dentist, mechanic, or seamstress, either. Eh, just my .02

I've broken my own hair off in high school, so I feel the pain, but if I try to advise someone kindly it's immediately greeted with hate, and everything who has ever done their own hair at home seems to think they're an expert. Sometimes ya gotta let them learn the hard way.
