My stylist taught my husband how to apply bleach to my roots over FaceTime so we could do it. We didn’t spend all that time getting platinum to let it go

Lol same for me last year and this year. I overlapped my bleach when I was doing my roots... and snapped off alot of hair at the crown and around my face. I have to style it every day to hide that. I'm only allowed to have her shadow my roots until it grows out lol.

Sounds like she wants more money from clients,, to me (just my opinion and experience). My stylist specializes in color (and I love letting her have fun with my hair colors). She always tells me, or gives me, the dye that’s most likely to fade the quickest. That way I can separate those pieces and touch up the color (still pay $100+ for her service every 6-8 weeks).

I've actually mostly accomplished this. I've been box black for years and then decided to hop on the silver train. Of course it bleached out pretty brassy but I used a lavender/blue tinted silver and it came out a very pretty lilac colour which faded to silver after a couple of weeks. Two months later I went back to black. 😅

I think the idea behind the coconut oil is like putting vaseline on your scalp and the top of your ears to prevent/reduce burning when putting on relaxer or perm.

I don't think so. The erroneous theory is that the coconut oil minimizes the damage to the hair lengths and ends. And it's rubbish, anyway. Be nice if it were that easy!

If you are a professional MEASURE YOUR LIGHTENER, and follow the manufacturer instructions. Why? If not your insurance won’t cover your if something goes wrong with your client’s hair.

The first one didn't put enough lightener on. You can clearly see her hair color through it. I'm not a stylist and can barely do anything with my own hair. Though every time we see people with spotty hair, it's always after they apply the beach and we can still see what their hair color looks like through or in between the bleach.

yall the thing about not cutting your hair if its short before bleaching is very true i learned it the hard way by giving myself a low level burn on my scalp. if you trim up your hair after bleaching and dyeing you can clean up any color that gets on the shaved part as well

I was one of those girls who thought I could get silver hair from my thick, black hair 😭 You need to have a certain level of blonde, tone it & then apply the color. I went to a salon 3 times and they simply couldn’t strip the color in my hair enough. If you have thick, black hair: I recommend not considering silver hair until you get older and loose the color naturally.

I am SO happy to hear you say that you shouldn’t bleach wet hair! I am not a hair stylist. But I had a hair stylist do this to me years and years ago. She bleached my hair. Rinsed it out. Did another round of bleach on my wet hair. Then after rinsing that out put dye on my wet hair as well. I wasn’t sure if that was normal. I had never had a hair stylist put bleach or dye on my wet hair before. And when I say my hair was FRIED, is putting it mildly. It was completely destroyed for like a year and a half. It would take me two hours just brush it after all that. I finally got fed up and chopped it all off. It’s grown out now and a lot healthier. No more bleach or dye for me.

I followed every single video to layer my hair and it came out so amazing, I always ask the hairdresser how I want it to and never got it right, and with yr tutorial I m amazed. Perfect! I’m in my 40s and completely silver now. I’d love to see some videos of natural gray hair with toners and maybe some fun XMondo colors. It took 2.5 years to grow it out. I don’t missing having to get my roots done every three weeks!

Just wanted to say thank you, I was afraid of coloring my hair in some crazy color and after watching your videos I just decided that this is it, I colored my hair in purple, now its pink-purple, and I should color it again but I did not regret anything!!!❤❤❤

Ugh…the urge to bleach your hair platinum blonde when it’s long and healthy. Did that a couple months ago while lockdown, now my hair is black again and I have to wear extensions 🤦🏽‍♀️

Just started the vid but I'm sure this is going to be a nice little reminder not to do anything drastic as I'm sitting here with freshly bleached hair that needs one more round.... I managed to catch the covids and now that I'm feeling better but still isolating, I thought I'd use this time to finally re-blonde/silver myself with plenty of time to take it slow between bleaches and toning and all.... but I sure hate the yellow phase!

Bleached my black hair at home 5x in two days, burned my scalp. Important to mention, that my once mid back hair was dry, falled out like crazy and broke to neck line lenght (looked like eaten by a rat) LESSON FOR A LIFETIME.

I bleached my super compromised brown hair, that’s already been bleached then dyed black then bleached to beown, so I could die it yellow yesterday and pretended like I was doing a vid that was being reacted to by Brad the entire time😂

Our perception of color is relative to the other colors we see around that color. So a person's skin tone can affect the way we perceive their hair color. The second person definitely could have gotten away with leaving it at the first treatment. Their skin has a very warm tone, so even if their hair might have been warmer than a "neutral" gray/silver, it would have worked. I'm very light-skinned, so if I had their final hair it would have looked unmistakably bluish on me.
