Honestly, it has been such a cool journey watching you do KZfaq in Highschool, try out college, decide it’s not the thing, watch you try a collab channel, watch you start your vlog channel (my millennial life crisis), watch you really find your groove on YT, watch you hit a rut, watch you find real estate and now you’re thriving. Your channel has really been such a fresh reminder that life is a journey and it’s never going to be perfect and we are always changing. Thanks for being you, Monica!

One word: Confidence. As a complete stranger getting hooked on your Palm Springs renovation videos, I can sense how much calmer and more confident you are (I mean that as a complement not in a rude way I hope that comes across the way it was intended). The peace of mind that comes from diversification of interests, plus the fact that you proved to yourself that life doesn't have you pigeon-holed as a KZfaqr forever is very freeing, I can only imagine. The introvert vs. extrovert conversation is also very interesting. I agree with your assessment that if you keep telling yourself something over and over again in your head, eventually you will become a prisoner to that belief which is a never-ending cycle. I used to think like that until I worked retail and I hated having to engage with customers. But I slowly started noticing that my managers would leave me alone and not ask me to do stuff if I was with a customer. So little by little I just started getting into random conversations with customers and that built my confidence up which made it much easier to keep a conversation going until I genuinely started becoming more interested in other people's lives rather than work lol. Either way I was escaping "work", so it was a win/win. All the best!

*“I had this pressure on myself every day that every second of the day HAS to be extremely product”* That one hit home. As an ambitious 20-year-old, the pressure to have it all figured out can be overwhelming. Gotta remind myself to slow it down sometimes. Thanks for your honestly and vulnerability, Monica.

7:24 "It's only awkward if you make it awkward." A guy friend told me this once. Changed my life. Literally, life is all about perception. Stop thinking everything and everyone is awkward. You're holding yourself back. The only thing in life you can truly control is your perception. Change it.

I’m so glad you haven’t lost the love for filming though! So great to see our Monica (and Shelby too for that matter) going through the trials and tribulations of their millennial lives and succeeding! Hearts 💕 and hugs to you both!

You're right about the muscle of socializing, I have been to going to this event skip the small talk it's kind of speed friending, you ask strangers deep questions and it fun you can totally mess up but you'll never see that person again. I use it as practice and feel a lot better about socializing. Your life definitely got a glow up! you are glowing!

I think you are totally right about extroversion being a muscle! When I was in medical school, I spent a great majority of time studying and always felt like I had to try so hard to keep up with conversations, but as soon as I entered residency, where I spent all day talking to patients, it became so much easier to be social in casual/non-work environments as well

Introversion/Extroversion are not the same as being socially awkward or not. It is a basic component of one's personality. You can become more confident and outgoing, but it doesn't change your core personality.

No hate whatsoever, I just find it interesting when you say that people don’t need to focus on views, clicks, etc., but most often those people are doing what it takes on social media to make more money. It’s those people who are trying to become financially stable and grow their income and wealth, and to no longer be broke. Most of us no longer want to work 9-5 with little income per hour, we don’t want to struggle to survive, and live to work but instead live to live well and happily. You’re very financially comfortable and well off that sure you don’t have to focus on those things but for others it’s a different story.
@MonicaChurch
@MonicaChurch 2 жыл бұрын
The only reason I don't have to focus on views, clicks, etc. is because I now have a different income source. Otherwise YES you are spot on with the stress that comes with that. Completely right, you need that to make money and survive, I hated that because you don't have control over how many views you'll get. Now it feels like such a privilege I can worry about those things right. But yes, you are right! Totally understand this comment!

I first started following you around 2016 then started keeping up with everything again when you started uploading the airstream videos. I remember that years ago you mentioned making monthly playlist and to this day I still make them. It's amazing to see how much you've grown from when I first found your channel to the 2020 videos and even more since you became a real estate agent! To all the introverts out there trying to become more social, you can do it! Start with baby steps meeting one person at a time, make plans with a couple friends and see what works for you. No need to try to be as social as extroverts, just find your perfect balance between enjoying other people's company and your own.

So true about your comment about being social. I was that person in school who knew the answer, but was too afraid to raise my hand. I could see how being shy and awkward was keeping me from opportunities and doing things I enjoy. Over the years, I have converted myself from an introvert to an extrovert. While I still shy away from public speaking, I don’t have any hesitation in introducing myself to new people. It has truly changed my life for the better. Continue doing what makes you happy Monica! Whoo hoo!!! Great changes!!! I've been licensed and a full-time realtor for 6 years now here in Boise, IDaho. Started out in title and escrow-working for 15 years in that industry. It was a fantastic experience, crazy busy and long hours. I learned a lot, but had decided I would never want to be a realtor because of the way "they" were. Then I stayed home for 7 years with the babies. When I returned to work, I joined a large real estate team as the Listing Manager-didn't take long before I was struggling with how "they" were. Haha! It finally dawned on me, I don't have to do real estate in the way that keeps turning me off. I can do it different, do it the way I want to - be me! I agree that it is hard to spend the hard earned money because it's such a super difficult and competitive industry, so many emotional ups and downs. We close around 25 homes a year and it's very personal the way we go through these home selling and buying scenarios. So, when escrow finally closes...I'm not running to Target that's for darn sure!!!! All the best to you Monica!!!!
