Prachand has used alot of lightweight alloy in it which makes it light weight helli. Its empty weight weight is - 2250kg Max weight is 5800kg It carries fuel around 1000kg as its another brother hal rudra which also weights 5.8tons carries 1.05 tons fuel has range of 590km So with 2.25tons +1 ton approx fuel it will have alot of payload to carry weapons hellfires weights 47kg. Rockets pod 200-250kg. Its a very strong package with 550km range no helicopter can fly with enough weapons at 6.5km altitude It has all the sensors avionics optics which apaches has elbit systems laser warining receiver radar warning receiver , missile approach warning system of Saab. Also flares and chaffs a 20mm turret gun optics like laser designator , laser range finder , camers for inside tv , helmet mounted display, to fire gun with head movements. Also a infrared suppressors on its engines which works very fine the project member and test pilot unni pillai did said that manpads cant detect it if distance is more than 1km . Same kind of infrared suppressors were used in russian mil mi-17 . And there is comparison infrared video on KZfaq of russian airshow mil mi 17 vs this upgraded mil mi17 there is alot of difference. It has a 1400ho french engine which will be replaced by Indians htse-1200 which have completed its high speed test it produced 1600hp which will also increase its high altitude performance. However 2x 1400hp engines are more than enough but high altitude performance is what matters more. Just so far there is no radar like apache but we have apaches too. Its truly great aircraft And also it costs only 16.4 million the limited series production of 15 units . So when mass produced it will be reduced After all everything is manufactured by government for government because of old socialist system. For comparison other hellis like apache base variants cost 36millions Atak t129- 50millions Agusta a129- 24 milliona. So it is also very cost effective Also its brother hal rudra ks very effective its a multirole it has everything atack helicopter has except helmet mounted display. It can carry 14 troops has range of 590km cam carry anti tank Has all attack helicopter sensors optics defencive suits . A movable turrent gun Like dedicated attack helicopter and alot more Lch is a very slim and it is designed not to deflect radar in opposite instead deflect it u can see those angles in design, which also reduces its radar crosseaction. The armour used can sustain bullets of 12.7mm. and rotors can sustain hit upto 20mm bullets. However there can be extra detachable armour applied for pilot safety around cockpit

One thing missed, all of the limited series of LCA prachand have been delivered by HAL way before the time period. Also army and airforce have confirmed that they are gonna place order of 165 prachand, the deal will be signed by the wnd of this year. And around 20-30 prachand per year HAL will be able to deliver these choppers. For these ambitions, indis have also recently opened asias largest helicopter manufacturing facility, so in the next 5-6 years we can see all pf the delivery being completed, which is a really a great timeline.

According to Wiki sources, this thing has been in "production" since 2017...and they have about 20 of them. I don't think it's going to be eclipsing the Hind or Apache any time soon.

The limited varient was not ordered with armament because it will be getting all proven system and missiles from LCH rudra. Order was only related to helicopter it's design it's operational requirements in all terrain.

The culture of stupid cheapness in the Indian military is parlaying its ability to function. The decades long history of almost all their weapons systems is matched only by their utter failure in the end .. from rifles to tanks to jets to helicopters .. Why in the end they buy foreign . The quality of workmanship is very poor , given the sloth of procurement, they aged out any work force experience they gain and must start all over again .. The carrier program is a prime example.. they should have order three of their simple locally made versions ( sold that POS Russian one with sits crappy Mig 29 back to the Russians “ Pre War”..?) and power ahead with there’s .. they just can’t seem to get their act together
