It’s all about demonstration it’s not about raising a crop on this soil. The purpose is to show classic machines at work. They plow these fields twice a day and disk and pack them twice a day for 4 days to allow 60,000 people to see all the equipment at work.

Great tractors.

Steiger made a disc that would decouple in half and become a Tow behind disc. Rather than folding up like modern ones. This was back when Hydraulics and such were more cumbersome and hydraulics in equipment was still a newer thing. Still a very cool concept. With fewer moving parts that could break.

They made a chisel plow also

@@mattcraztex9940 not really. There were plenty of hydraulic fold discs when these came out. They bought out Wilbeck

@@nellsonstout7001 yes there were, but Steiger made one that did not fold and became a tow behind. Also allowing lower horsepowerd tractors to tow each half or both for higher horsepower tractors.

I had my Steiger Turbo Tiger I at the show. I ran a rice roller and an IH 490 disk with it.

Yeah, plus I've always wondered what kind of yields they get on that ground where they hold the show. Between the compaction and working the piss out of the ground, has to take its toll, especially in real dry yrs. I remember as a kid telling my Grampa we should get together with other neighbor farmers, and host the Farm Progress show 1 yr, this was back when the Show move around from Indiana, Illinois and Iowa each yr, my Grampa said, no way do we want to be a host, because of all the compaction, and he said a lot of the host farmers over the yrs ended up with financial issues within a few yrs after hosting the Farm Progress show. I do miss having the Farm Progress show being here in Indiana. One of the last Farm Progress shows held in Indiana was just North of us about 15 minutes, which was nice. Over the yrs of my life it had been close to us a few times, which made it nice, not having to drive very far. Now to go the Farm Progress show its close to a 3 hour drive, so I have been to it in a while, but as of now I plan on heading there Tuesday.

These fields are all for demonstrating machinery. They plow these fields twice a day to show machines at work to 60,000 people. The crops are in essence props for the matching to knock down. I bet the price of admission to 60,000 spectators is more than the ground could produce.

Some spots are dry and some are and some are just right. Happens every year. The spots that are usually dry are still dry and the spots that are usually wet are still wet. Nothing unusual about the weather. Its always been like this.

It was moist this year. This video is a compilation of 2015, 2017 and 2019. I have hours and hours of 2021 footage to share after filming completes tomorrow.

This ground is plowed and then packed and replowed. The main field by the flag is plowed twice a day just to show all the machines.

That is correct. There were some post 71’ models through the early 80’s. Ultimately this show attracts some really cool tractors no matter the vintage.

We have some legendary engines like the Detroit diesel two stroke screamers and compound turbo caterpillar monsters. Some definitely have a unique sounds from operating in different RPM ranges then conventional tractors.

I think the newest I have seen are about 1982. Most are very rare. I think it’s all pretty cool to see.

Even brand new stuff can be “cool to see” - let’s try not to squeeze out the old stuff. 2021 - 50 = 1971 Keep fudging at it might as well be the farm progress show.

Definitely not.

I did not say this was the 2021 show in the video. I just stated these are big tractors at the show. I know people are eager to see content from 2021 but I cannot film it and post it sane day. This video shares tractors from 2015, 2017 and 2019. Some of them were here this year too. I am looking forward to sharing the 2021 show later this week. It’s all good iron no matter the year.
