If commercials from blood-sucking companies is what comforts us, then what does that say about American culture? Sadly, when you ask people to define it they'll start listing brands, products etc... Ford, Chevy, Dodge. None of these things make a culture.

I was 13 years old back in the year 1989. I remember all of these old T.V. commercials. The 1980s was both a good and bad time for me. As a kid who was growing up in New York City after the crack explosion, it wasn't that great of a childhood, especially in my neighborhood. But in the sense of what I liked, like certain T.V. series, animated cartoons, music, comics, video games, etc., yeah, it was a really fun time.

I was 11 in 89 and lived in the Ozarks. We were so poor that the electric wouldn't be paid half the time and I had to pack water from a spring 200 yards from the house because the well pump ran off electricity. I spent the summer of 88 bare foot because there wasn't any money for shoes. Later that year oct 89 we moved to Tulsa and my life improved. That was the first time I ever saw cable TV. Alot of people have fond memories of the 80s, I mostly remember being dirty poor and hungry.
