Okay, seriously - my wife reads contracts for a living and it's important to note that the reference to "entrant" is not hinged on the winner, it's hinged on who actually enters the contest. They can do this to anyone who enters - the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc person in this contest. Protect yourself, protect your idea. Don't do this.
@Darrylizer15 жыл бұрын
So they can take your idea and use it, but not declare you the winner so they don't have to give you the 100 bucks?!
@Wyllowisp5 жыл бұрын
@@Darrylizer1 They'd probably have a "fake winner" or if all entrants are legit, they take all their ideas and just give one guy 100 bucks.

@AVerySillySausage4 жыл бұрын
@@Darrylizer1 I guess they would have had to notify the entrant and give them the $50 to have permission to use the idea, then another $50 if they use it. BUT, they wouldn't have to fly them out to meet anyone since that is reserved for the winner. So I guess they don't have to declare any winners at all which takes the whole meeting a non factor. You just enter your idea and maybe make $100 if they use it.

Hey guys, great video as usual. I can help shed a little light on the way the Annabelle: Creation embargo worked. The film was first shown at the Los Angeles film festival on June 19th 2017. There is no embargo at film festivals, so any critic who saw the film there would be free to post their reviews early to Rotten Tomatoes. Those would account for the initial reviews. The film was then screened again at San Diego comic con for fans and press, and this is where I saw it since I was already in town for SDCC. The embargo had already lifted at that point and there was no second embargo to my knowledge. There were however more screenings after the Los Angeles Film Festival and Comic Con, which would account for the influx of reviews after that. As for the studios interacting with critics after the screening, that rarely happens for me in Ohio, in fact basically never. Can't say the same for LA/NY people. At comic con, they handed out a swag bag to people who saw Annabelle: Creation. In it was Blu-Rays for The Conjuring and Annabelle 1, and a hat for Stephen King's IT. I gave all these items away to people I met there because I already own The Conjuring and I fucking hated Annabelle 1. I hope that sheds light on some of the questions you had, guys. Keep making great videos, RLM is my favorite channel. Edit: No one received an Annabelle doll for free. I bought mine off Amazon to use in the review because I wanted to make it look like she moved during filming.

Rotten Tomatoes is an incredibly simple system and I'm still baffled that people don't get it. Every reviewer and review is boiled down to a yes or a no. Do they recommend the movie yes or no. That's why you have two reviews that are 3/5 and one's a tomato and one's a splat. Read the wording of the reviews, both said the movie was average (3/5) but one said it was fine and the other said it wasn't worth watching. One yes, one no. Those yes and no reviews then get averaged into the score for the movie. An 18% on Rotten Tomatoes doesn't mean that the quality of the movie is that of an 18/100, it's saying that 18% of the people who watched it would recommend it.
@user-fz9vk4js5l6 жыл бұрын
Eurotrash RC what do you want him to tell you? 70% of critics would recommend it. That just what happened, maybe someone slipped them a few € and winked but what could this guy tell you
@JohnXuandou6 жыл бұрын
Eurotrash RC That's not a problem with the Rotten Tomatoes scoring system though, that's a problem with movie reviewers. RT doesn't do anything but collect information and compile it in one location. If that information is slanted, they still have to collect it. You're blaming the diagnosis for the disease.
@mountaindewslave6 жыл бұрын
technically Rotten Tomatoes works on a system where the critics pick a rating and if it's above 6/10 then it's automatically considered fresh, and then the reviews are just combined as an aggregate The tricky part is that 90% of critics could a movie 6.5/10, which would be considered negative by most people, and it will still look like a fresh tomato on RT. Maybe what's considered 'fresh' is too forgiving
@TransparentLabyrinth6 жыл бұрын
I will never understand the nuances of review systems. It's all too complicated. And then everybody uses different systems too. I tend to just go, like, "Does the reception seem positive overall?" And base my impression on that. And then proceed to not watch the movie until/if it ends up on Netflix, at which point I've long forgotten it exists.
@JohnXuandou6 жыл бұрын
No, it isn't the quality of the movie, because a movie could be a 1/10 and you wouldn't recommend it or it could be a 7/10 and you wouldn't recommend it. The RT rating has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the movie, how well it was made or shot, the audio, anything. It's simply whether or not people liked it. A movie could be incredibly well made, but not worth watching (see - most Rob Zombie movies), on the same hand a movie could be very poorly made, but incredibly entertaining (see - Roger Corman movies). You can't exchange the two and you have to understand what you're looking at. Yes, chances are that if only 18% of people who saw a movie would recommend it, you probably wouldn't like it either, but there's also the possibility that you are in that 18%. All Rotten Tomatoes says is that a lot of people either like a movie or don't like a movie.

Did anyone read David F Sandberg's last twitter comment? He say's he's too busy to answer anymore tweets for the moment. Dated 17 Aug 2017. One day after this review? Ha Ha Ha!
@booradley68324 жыл бұрын
The thing is, I feel sorry for Mr. Sandberg. At this point he's a small director who came from a background as a nobody(He had no connections that got him in or anything) that made something pretty good, then he made a mass-appeal horror film for the theatre going simpletons, so when the people holding his leash...I mean contract, when they tell him "You do this because we made you into an inspiring nobody to fame story" he cant really say no. Chances are he knew and his hands were tied. I dont see him quite as part of "the machine" he just seems like a guy who likes to make movies. Shazaam definitely feels like that's the case. I bet they only gave him $30 for being in that video anyway.
@nolestrono4 жыл бұрын
@@booradley6832 Fuck I totally forgot he made Shazam. It just shows how you really can't judge a book by its author, I hope he continues to make stuff as good as Shazam cause he clearly does have skill.

At the theater I used to work at, one part of the building had a ~120 person, ~100 person, and a ~70 person auditorium. Movies naturally cycled down after the weeks, except when no one was buying tickets. The Dark Tower, along with the most recent King Arthur movie, are the fastest that I've seen a movie go to the small theater.

The film had its world premiere back in June at the LA Film Festival, which is what Lights Out did last year. All the critics who saw and glowed about the film early were mostly from that initial screening. And WB was actually very confident in the film, as they screened the film two to three weeks in advance in several areas, my area included. They even had a nationwide promotional screening collaboration with AMC Theaters where they screened the film to AMC Stubs members over a week in advance. This took place in at least 50 locations. I believe WB did the same type of deal with Regal Cinemas that same night as well for their Regal Crown Club members, so add another 50 locations to that. Hope that answers any sort of questions you guys might have.

As an artist who has been making money on his art work and his photos as a second job for a decade, i can say its kinda normal for whoever runs a contest to basically own the rights to your work... it sucks. Its bull shit. Its the reason i always tell people to avoid contests like this. I have seen game studios ask for artwork in a contest that basically say "we own the rights to it, and if you win you get the prize and nothing else." Like, its sleezy what WB is doing here... but its no more sleezy then i have seen before. That being said usually the contests i see for artists and concept artists and photographers have prizes in the thousands of dollars... that 50+50 dollar grand prize is fucking insane!

If you entered the contest: I live in LA; it's nae that great. Violent homeless people roam the streets; gangs mug you at every stop light; it's all hotter than the deepest pit of Hell. Now, I'll tell you what happened; I moved tae LA, first year, lived in Glendale. For the rest of you, it's a small area in the nor'east of LA County. It's a mite bigger city than I'm used tae, and my flatmate, a chap I went tae University with, picked our flat out. It was a studio, 300 ft^2, including the W.C. We bombed the place of roaches and midges every...3 weeks, or so. In the year I lived there, 3 people were murdered in a 3 block radius of me (well, two murders, one hit-and-run...that's the same, right?). There's more, but...it takes a wee bit of time tae explain. Suffice tae say, I've lived here 8 year, and I miss the colour green, and being cold, and friendly people, but....that's about it, really.
