5 Halibut Schooners were hauled out at the Port Townsend Shipyard in the Fall of 2023 for routine maintenance. A sixth vessel of this type was hauled and broken-up.

Beautiful old boats that are a piece of history. It was hard to watch them destroy the one with rotten decks. Those old wooden boats have a soul. Thanks for the video Steve.

Great care and skills still support what is remaining. Northern and a few others left the active fleet to become great homes afloat. Thor and Alma were a loss of heritage. Government trust should be spent in conservation rather than destruction. IRUPE ll is now my conservation project. Thanks for the video.

It's so sad to see them broken up! I understand it's part of the life cycle, happens to lots of vessels, but it's like a dream ending

Thank you for sharing. I don’t how or why these old wooden boats have gotten my interest in the last 4 year, but I do know that they are some of the most beautiful creations that man has ever come up with. It nearly tore my heart apart watching them demolish Thor, so sad.

I'm amazed that Thor was scrapped. You think we've come to understand the importance of our early industrial revolution history then you see something like that happen.

Aye m8! Interesting design of these vessels. Btw - could it be that you are somewhat involved in choosing anchors for TallyHo?

Leo is a Patreon of mine, so I assume he was influenced by my videos, but his selection (Vulcan) was made without my direct involvement.

I shudder to think what shapeless abomination Thor was replaced with.
