I was ten years old when Halloween hit the theaters in 1978, my uncle took me to a Robby benson movie called ice castles. Before the movie started they showed a trailer for Halloween, which was playing in the next cinema. I told my uncle that I was going to the bathroom in actuality I went to Halloween. I stood at the entrance of the cinema, the part I saw was when bob went into the kitchen and michael Myers popped out of the closet. I heard the girls in the audience scream, I jumped when I felt a hand on my shoulder, it was the usher "what movie are you supposed to be seeing?" He asked. I replied "ice castles." " I suggest you get back there" I went back to my movie with my heart racing and 12 years later I bought Halloween on VHS from sears and watched it in my creepy basement.

Yeah. Plus I was 12 or 13 when I first saw it. Old enough to understand it all but young enough to be frightened. To this day, I can't watch it. Although, those who watched it when in their 20's scoff and laugh at it.

Did you and Chris Stuckman plan this :) Keep up the great work and Happy Friggin' Halloween! For me, the Scary Visual scene that stuck with me forever, was the Chest Defibrillation scene in The Thing. As a kid it was terrifying and amazing. As an adult it makes me smile every time and the visuals (the entire movie actually) has held up flawlessly.

MovieJunkie ForLife I watched that with my dad back in the day. Probably wasn't the best movie to show to a child, but I'm glad parents back in those days didn't give a fuck about trying to censor their kids 24/7. Kids need a little bit of fear because fear exists everyday in real life and they need to know how to deal with it.

IKR my parents, esp my Dad was awesome growing up . He would let me watch any horror movie I wanted, once the nudity wasn't too much. I remember handing him videos at the store, and him going through them one by one with the clerk. "How much sex is in this one?" "What about this one? It has boobs? That's okay but what about the sex?" Sweet memories :)

"What is this day, some kind of... Halloween?" By the way, we still have "Blockbusters" in Finland, the name here is Filmtown. I sometimes rent some movies from the one near me because Netflix doesn't have as many movies in Finland. But yeah, it's always magical :)

Great review. One of the scariest images in a horror movie that still freaks me out is in Jeepers Creepers. When they drive by the old church, and he's dumping a body down a pipe, turns, and watches them drive by. Freaks me out still.

A scene that always stuck with me was in Psycho (1962) when Martin Balsam's character looks at the camera and asks,, to himself, who's really buried in the mother's grave. Quite disturbing, and it surprises me that no-one ever talks about that moment.

For me it's the original 70's T.V. Movie of Salems Lot. I saw it younger than I probably should and the scenes that always stuck with me were: the kid appearing at the window, the first appearance of The Master and David Soul shitting himself when a body gets up in the morgue,'Bill, Bill!' A classic I return to often. Great reviews man, keep it up!

This isn't really a horror film but I always remember the visual in Signs when it just cuts to the shot of the alien standing on the roof outside the window. That, plus the moment when you first see footage of an alien freaked me out when I first saw it. I was afraid to walk upstairs to bed in the darkness!

Scream 2, 2 scenes stuck with me forever. 1. the scene where Gale is in a room quietly trying to hide from Ghostface who is in the same room, and 2. The scene where Sidney and her friend have to climb over a passed out Ghostface in the driver seat of a crashed cop car. Those 2 scenes had me shaking the first time I watched them!

My earliest Halloween memory: my mom had it on VHS back in the day (with the same cover as yours in the video), and when I asked if I could watch it, I got a "hell no". I shrugged it off initially, only to overhear some kids talking about it at school. The seed was planted: I had to see it. On the last day of third grade, I stayed up late, waited until everyone went to bed, and then I watched the taboo tape... it put the fear of God into me. The shot where Michael's face slowly appears from the darkness behind Jamie Lee was a staple in my nightmares. And then it kind of sort of became one of my favorite movies of all time.

Since John said "is there a scary visual that sticks you out" mine would be The Conjuring movies thanks to trees. The tree in the first Conjuring did look creepy but it's backstory is very disturbing, and the second during the climax that tree man I got the chills every time I think about that scene it was one of the most intense climaxes ever put in a horror movie.

John Carpenter is a master. He makes amazing films...and amazing music for them. How more badass can he be? As far as a scary visual that stucked with me goes...I would say the red monster first appearance in Insidious or the dog transformation in The Thing.

I saw I think it was troll 2, but I'm not sure if that's what it was, as a kid and at the end there was a ball bouncing on the stairs to the kid that said something like your mommy's good and when we went down the stairs he saw these 3 or 4 creatures eating him mom which they had turned into a green slime. that scared the crap outta me as a kid and I had dreams about it for years lol

The one scene in a movie that gives me chills is in saw where jigsaw slams door shut saying “game over” and the last thing you here is Adam’s scream *gaaah*

The first time I watched Halloween was last night at the Beacon. It was also the first horror movie I saw in theaters, yeah, that's a cool first!

I loved the slow pacing of the movie and my favorite parts about it are the scenes in which he is stalking people
