thats impossible if i remember correctly when you're using a possessed biped and get out of their scripting area you just freeze and are unable to do anything or thats what i remember back in the CE days

If I remember correctly, the cyborg.biped (master chief) is the only one that can trigger loading zones, so attempting to play through the level as a grunt for example ends up causing scripts to break, as the game thinks the player (master chief) is just standing in the same spot. Even if it didn’t, cutscenes tend to use specific cinematic versions of tags so it’ll still show the master chief instead of the grunt you were possessing

You could play through the level as any character that you bump possess and at the end, teleport chief to camera, bump possess cheif, then trigger the cutscene with the ai that you previously possessed running around

@@PERTEKofficial Loading zones do not check what kind of biped something is as long as it's a player-owned character, thus the player can trigger loading zones (known as "bsp switch trigger volumes") as any biped. The issue is that when you bump possess an AI, it's still being controlled by an AI, thus it will freeze in place when you switch BSPs (with some limited exceptions - it isn't necessarily to do with their "scripting area" as some bipeds can travel with the player). This is a performance-saving measure, as AI controlled characters aren't too cheap on a 2001 Xbox. Bipeds not controlled by an AI, on the other hand, will not freeze in place unless the BSP switch results in them being out of bounds.

im not up to date on the official mod tools, but going by how generalkidd described it, it sounds like he's using an alternate build of the game that comes with the mod tools? if so, i wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't as optimized as the normal build. easier for the game devs to debug it that way

Probably because he's recording the tag test build, which may not always run smoothly anyway, or the recording software he's using doesn't capture it as well as the actual game

Low frame rate. He’s playing in the tag test version of the game which isn’t meant to run as smoothly as the actual game, it’s just to test stuff out quickly on a map you’re working on. I think the poor frame rate is because the map isn’t compiled, it’s just pulling all of the data from the raw tags and running the game that way, which isn’t very efficient

Wdym worse? They're the exact same (in fact the jetpack command was broken on custom edition) plus any cheat not present in the debug menu can still be manually entered.

Because he’s using the tag test version of halo. It’s not meant to run smoothly, it’s just a tool you can use to quickly test a map you’re working on without needing to compile it. The frame rate is probably bad because it’s pulling all of the data from the raw tags folder rather than reading a compiled .map file. It works for map testing but it’s a very inefficient way to run the game
