Man, thanks for opening up and lettin' us know just why Optimus... THIS original Optimus, is so important to you. And when it comes to this "Missing Link" version, I've heard across the board that it is just hitting everyone just right!!! Can't wait to get mine. There really is something special about him as a character, as an icon.... but the original toy goes hand in hand with that feeling, that comfort, that Optimus Prime provides us all. My first ever Transformer was a hand-me-down Beast Wars Trex Megatron with a missing head and accessories. My great aunt and late great uncle got it for me from a family friend who’s child stopped playing playing with TFs. I was in the middle of watching the reruns of Beast Wars on Cartoon Network. It was a perfect gift and a toy I hold very dear to my heart. Such precious memories.

Not only old is gold. But this optimus would be the best and most expensive desk toy where you literally can't stop fiddling with him. Good thing is I will get 30 usd taken off from the full price when the stock is available on amazon on april since someone gave a gift card. I can't wait having this figure in my hand.

Ahhh my first transformer, christmas so long ago, no expectations ,no clue it was there ,the reveal and pure joy i remember unwrapping and then unboxing and goddam i played with that toy until it was rendered unto the earth from years of the sheer exuberance of childhood and playing with toys in a rural setting. The only real gripe i had was he could never hold the gun right :P, love ya work keep on keepin on.

I think this might just be the best Transformer ever... I remember my G1 Prime. I was always confused that he had yellow eyes and I lost his hands almost immediately. This is exactly what I wanted when I was 5. I can't stop messing with him and transforming him back and forth! What a way to celebrate 40 years of the franchise!

9:55 my first Optimus prime was power master Optimus prime. So I have a very soft spot for that particular mold. It would be interesting to see a missing Link version of it someday.

7:37 I lost my entire G1 Megatron down a sewer grate. Was playing cops and robbers with it. Toy gun, after all. Tripped, fell, saw it slide across the street, hit that sewer grate, fall down into Lost Forever Land. Saddest day of my life up until that point.

I got both Missing Link Optimus Primes a few weeks ago. They definitely hitting all the right nostalgia vibes. I had never had some proper G1 figures until the recent movie re-issues, or even had a G1 Optimus as a kid, my first Transformers were G1 Chromedome and Slapdash. I'm excited to get some more Autobots to go with Optimus, Hound and Hotrod.

My first Transformer ever was either the Original Opitimus prime, though definitely a rerelease, or a G1 Slag. I'm not sure. But man did I love that Optimus. Though I Immediately lost the hands, and it always annoyed me that he held his Ion Blaster by the Magazine, and not the handle.

It really is perfect.

My first experience seeing Optimus and Transformers in general was actually Beast Wars. Optimus Primal himself was the first "Optimus" I had seen. Then I saw Transformers: The Movie in my local video store, rented it, and was introduced to the G1 Optimus. I definitely saw most of Beast Wars before that movie, but when I would go back to Beast Wars, I would always get excited seeing G1 Optimus open his eyes in one of the intros. Like, I forgot that he had no real role and was unconscious throughout most of the show, but it got me excited whenever I saw that part come up. lol As for this figure, I wanted to get the toy deco one because you can't get more nostalgic than that, but that damn trailer... It always seems to be the grey plastic box with wheels that jump up the price of Optimus figures. I couldn't justify paying that much for the full set. I'm holding out hope that they re-release that particular one without the trailer, considering how well it sold in general. This one you reviewed here is great, though. ^^

The price was too high, and I passed. I think they really marked it up and let nostalgia carry selling it. Probably would've if it was half. I had Megatron as a kid. My neighbor had Optimus. One afternoon, he was launching his Prime as high as he could and let it crach to pieces in the street. I suspect my Megatron is in an attic box somewhere.

Cool vid, yo. Wish I could say I had the same affection for the G1 Optimus as everyone else did. Sadly, I never owned it. What I did have was ultra Magnus. If they make a G1 missing Link ultra Magnus? That is something I might be interested in.

This is a great figure. I’m so depressed it’s sold out just about everywhere for the preorders…Secondary market here I come.
