I think the space issue is a huge factor for many modellers, me included. As you say, we have to make the most of what we have - and also, finding time to work on the layout is the next hurdle. You have built up a fantastic scenic layout & looking at what you've achieved so far is impressive. The backscenes certainly make a huge difference by addng depth.. Thanks for the tour of your wonderful railway & I look forward to the next installment. All the very best..................Andy

You've done a good job convincing us Sharlston is much bigger than it is - it looks huge!

Hi. I've just enjoyed listening to your voice as you explained your thought process with regards to your layout. You came across very well and confident. As for backscenes I remember when I fitted mine the difference was amazing. I haven't watched your earlier videos but will do but this video I found to be lacking illumination lighting would have helped. I'm looking forward to watching more of your layout and I'll be subscribing to your channel as we all need them. I'm close to uploading my first video and hopefully it will come sone way as good as yours. 🚂🚃🚃🚃

Lighting - yeah, totally. It's only by doing a couple of videos that you see how bad the lighting is. It's high on the list of things to get fixed. Did some experimentation last night and got some unsightly shadows on the backscene - so it's looking like it won't be straightforward. Good luck with your video - by videoing your own layout you'll quickly notice where the holes are. The modelling community on KZfaq are really supportive and will give you lots of encouragement and advice.

Hi nice video, although I'd not be down about getting lots of layout completed for each video. Lets face it, our layouts are a hobby and once done, what are you going to do then? I'd much sooner see your layout develop over time, rather than achieve a huge amount in a short period. I spend ages debating each new bit or revamp of something before starting, that's half the fun for me, planning it all out in my mind first................Very well narrated and a pleasure to watch, thanks. All the best Dave.

Aw thanks Dave, absolutely spot-on comment, it's a hobby for enjoyment and it takes shape at its own pace. I'm like you in spending ages thinking about each little scene before starting work. At the moment I'm in a loco phase - doing up an old Lima class 09 and some weathering projects, so not much happening on the layout. Although there's a scratchbuild building in the early planning. By the way that's a nice space you've got for your layout - really like your town scene. All the best mate, Colin.

@@clipperrail8988 hi thanks for your kind words and mentioning the town scene. Yeah about that, it's changed recently. It's now a countryside junction with a garage and a pub on each corner. Guess that's a new video then! Actually there has been a ton of changes, so a video really should be on my to do list. Thanks again, best wishes Dave.

What a bunny layout you have. Great scenery and your brickwork is awesome.Have you any demos of how you did it ?.

Hi James, thanks for the nice comment. I don't think I've got any video of the walls being made. It's Slaters embossed plasticard, airbrushed using Humbrol enamel in grey (brick sheet) or various hues of brown / sand (stone sheet). The mortar is a very dilute solution of acrylic white brushed in, allowed to partially dry for a couple of minutes, then brushed a second time with just water to wash the mortar colour off the surface and into the grooves. This gives a much better contrast between the lighter mortar and the brick / stone surface.
