Nicely done review, Scott! I had the 42 mm variant and agree with all your pros and cons. For me, the thing that made me flip it was the constant battle with reflections on the crystal. It made telling the time waaaaay more difficult than it needs to be. I really would like to see them put some anti-reflective coating on the underside of the crystal, as I haven't read anything from Hamilton stating that it has any at all.

Hey bro, very nice video and review. I have this watch too and it is my every day go to favorite. I agree that it needs more than 2 micro adjustments. I can't get it to that sweet spot fit with just the 2 holes. Thanks!

I agree with you on the crown. A watch like this needs a screw down crown. Also, the 13-24 hour printing on the dial is not a gmt feature. There's no way that can be utilized for tracking a second time zone. It's actually for reading military time, it just makes it easier to read in a 24 hour format at a glance.

actually, i love the lack of AR coating. it makes the watch look much better IMO, and does not affect legibility at all. the only thing i would change would be the see through case back and a screw down crown. if they ever release a model like that i would flip this one and buy it in a heartbeat. it's already almost a perfect watch and gonna stay on my wrist hopefully forever.

@@stauffer65 Thanks, I’ve heard on forums that the AR coating can be replaced At Hamilton and a decent watch repair store will be able to drill the extra holes for the micro adjust.. I think I’ll get the AR done as it would improve the watch immensely! Will keep you updated my brother 🙌🏽

@@shazhuss2355 unfortunately not, my local authorised Hamilton watch repair store has said it’s only possible to install if Hamilton make the AR coating for that exact size for another Hamilton model. Otherwise it’s not possible .. I’ve emailed Hamilton but no reply as yet.

Good review overall, particularly the pros & cons. It seems the lack of AR coating is the major point here (specially on the black dial versions), and I would also add the lack of serviceability of the powermatic movement. Yet, the performance/price ratio still is remarkable.

There are members on Watchuseek who mentioned that the clasp on this bracelet can be drilled to add additional micro adjustment holes. Probably best done by a watchmaker I suppose. Are you aware of an aftermarket clasp which would be compatible with this bracelet?

Not exactly what you asked, but any aftermarket bracelet for the Seiko Alpinist will fit this watch. Strapcode has a few.

I absolutely agree. I've looked to buy this watch a number of times and have checked it out in person. Why they don't have AR and a screw-down crown is beyond me. Also, I've owned other watches with only two micro-adjustments and I just can't get them to fit me to be comfortable. Those things are enough for me to spend that money on something else. Hi there. Can this steel bracelet fits the Khaki Field Day Date Auto 42mm? both have the same 20mm lug width.

Hi ! I trully hesitate buying this watch. I love it but I'm wondering if it is not a bit overated. Also the lack of AR seems to bother more than one owner. Could you tell me if it is as problematic as they say ? Great video btw man

Hello. I must say I really enjoy wearing this watch. I thought the AR coating would be a big deal and it would be nice if they applied more, but for me it's not bad. Under direct light you will definitely notice it more. Saying all that the 80hr pwr reserve is awesome and quality is great! Yes I would buy another one with no hesitation. If I got this watch I'd definitely go to somewhere like Long Island watch or Strap co and spend 50 or 60 bucks to put a ratcheting clasp on it. IMO it's worth the expense for such an ease of life improvement on metal bracelets. I wish more watch companies offered them on their watches that don't cost thousands of dollars.

What clasp were you able to fit on the bracelet for this watch? I haven't been able to determine the size, but the bracelet doesn't seem to have any taper, so I'm guessing a 20mm clasp would work (?)

What size is your wrist ? I want the 38mm but am afraid it will look too small on me. I would get the 42 but my ocd won’t let me since the spacing of the date window and 24 hr markers gets thrown off !

Hello Ferien. Good question. This is the 38mm black dial and yes with out a doubt I would buy this watch again. Everything about it works for me. If I truly could change one thing, I would prefer a screw down crown. But so far so good. So hard to beat for the money!!! Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate that! Absolutely! And they look great. Im sure you won't be disappointed with this one. There are two things I wish they would change. More AR coating and a screw down crown, but I wouldnt let that stop you. A Awesome piece!!👍🏻👊🏻⌚

Throw a few layers of AR on the crystal, and it’s near perfect. As it stands, I can almost use the crystal to shave.

Just received mine and noticing that the lugs dont sit flush with the bracelet linkage. Lugs protrude a bit pat that first bracelet link is that normal or a misalignment?

You shouldn’t play tennis or golf with any automatic movement. They’re all susceptible to the same damage.. nothing inherently wrong with this watches design

@@stauffer65 even though I like larger watches...I think I am leaning towards the 38mm. Just can't get it out of my head that my smallest similar watch (Seiko SNK809) at 37mm looks a bit small to my eye. Might have to see if I can try the 38mm on somewhere.

I would say light water sports. The water resistant rating is 164ft. But remember it does not have a screwdown crown. So its kind of up to your comfort level. I would not if I could help it. Thanks for watching and commenting!!👍🏻⌚👊🏻

Not 330 ft but 100 feet water resistant . I.e. 10 Bar. Good watch but they have had reliability issues 're their water resistancy . .

You are confused. 10 bar is equivalent to 100m, which is equivalent to 330 feet.

@@marcosdelima7484 . Yes you are correct. What I was trying to say rather clumsily is that at best they are water resistant to 100ft . Because this model has problem any deeper than 100 ft Max. Partly due the fact that they do not have a screw in crown. Which is silly force watch that is claimed to be water resistant to 330 ft.
