I'm too old to go constructing a new pedestal--my Callas and Sills pedestals are decades old. But I now must accept the respect the presence of a new great one. I am in awe and in love.

Conte D' AlmaMelone why compare. I know it’s a human trait and I try very hard not to. Every great singers is incomparable. They are for me simply great and different. So here is someone who falls into to that category. I’m so happy that someone has come along who does. It good for our mental health. I have heard many of the greats too. That are all great for unique reasons. They all touch a lot to our core which is we’re the arguments come in on who was or is greater. If someone sells out houses and sells millions of recordings there is nothing anyone who doesn’t like them can do to change that. Alright, I’ve said enough. Sometimes I just get tired of the “compare” thing.

She's heads and shoulders better than anyone who's singing the lyric-coloratura repertoire at the Met. She's a throwback to the Golden Age of singing. She has a perfect mastery of the architecture of this music. She understands portamento perfectly, and she understands the give and take of rubato. She sings coloratura passages effortlessly and legato, without resorting to the aspiration and gargling that is the current fashion. She also has the most perfect trill of any modern-day singer. The more I listen to her, the more I love her.

A lot of singer work just as hard without achieving a tenth of what Lisette does. I think she has that extra something that very few singers are blessed with, something that allows them to see the architecture of the music and almost see it from an aerial point of view. You never have a sense of notes or difficult passages, but hear the aria as a seamless entity. Even the slowest passages have a forward momentum, and they are able to almost stop time in slow cantilena music. Lisette's phrasing and musical understanding reminds me most of Callas, even though the voice is so completely different.

In her Question and Answer Sessions posted to KZfaq, she has explained how she studies the story lines, characters, plot twists in great detail BEFORE she begins work on the role's music. This must be part of her magic, at delivering pure art that transcends the technique she's mastered.

After all the years of "star" sopranos who can't get through a score without cheating or mangling the music, a REAL singer who is a throwback to the Bel Canto era!! Absolutely spectacular.....and the trills❤️❤️❤️

This is really great, possibly one of the best renditions I've seen one of this much recorded scene! The voice is not only very beautiful, it's used with the most seamless and effortless technique, and everything is sung as it should, with no serious flaws or half-baked improvisations. This really deserves being called Golden Age singing.

Fabuleux, oui. Une ligne de chant terriblement inspirée. Callas, oui. Natalie Dessay, oui. Et maintenant Sabine Devielhe. Toutes ces dames ont chacune des qualités vocales et interprétatives phénoménales. Mais, svp, ne comparons pas. Juste se laisser aller à ces interprétations miraculeuses et ... phénoménales.

When you fall in love with a great voice for the first time. I feel the same way about Oropesa as I did when I first heard Sills live late in 1969 or Pavarotti a few years later at his first Carnegie Hall recital. There have been many more singers since those first few years of opera love. I felt the same way about Oropesa the first time I heard her as Nanetta in FALSTAFF. Since then it has been steady admiration and fascination as this wonderful soprano has show her wide variety of roles and musical styles. There's not much that I can add to what's been said here. Except her sense of any musical structure is faultless and original. She shapes phrases into the most musical statements. I can't wait to her what she'll do next. Fortunately, the rest of the world is catching up. Brava, Lisette.

Magnifique !!

This version is beautiful especially since it’s being sung by a real coloratura soprano. Nowadays lyric and dramatic sopranos are singing just about everything regardless of fach and it shows.
@alejandrotm
@alejandrotm 11 ай бұрын
Coloratura is a cross-cutting label for any voice that is flexible enough to perform agility passages, from the acutest soprano to the deepest bass. True is that singers with lighter voices are more likely to become coloratura singers, so coloratura basses are one in a million and coloratura soprani are more common, particularly for light and light-lyric soprani. The most valuable asset for Lisette is that she keeps her voice agile for coloratura roles, but over time, her middle and low notes are more developed, so her voice carries longer and stronger. She may never develop to sing verismo roles and romantic heavier heroines, but so far she can increase her repertoire with new roles that are fit for her almost every year and be a success at them.
