One of the most important things to know when you either making or purchasing a hammock. Is not only having the right length and width. But also the right fabric. Now fabrics come in many different colors and textures. Which might be important to you. But what is more important is the weight rating. Not only having a fabric that can support your body weight. But also to give you the right amount of stretch. So it will conform around your body without having any pressure points. That will allow you to achieve a flat lie and the ultimate comfort.

Ended up making better purchases since my Amazon/ENO days thanks to these videos. I have a Warbonnet Eldorado and Minifly, and I love it. I'm no gram weenie, but the weight difference is noticeable in upwards of lb's. And the recommendation of longer hammocks has been a game changer.

As a fellow Marine, you know we were used to ridiculously heavy packs, so the "gram- weenie" mentality has never been a thought for me. (Although I don't go crazy on bringing too much stuff!) . The one thing that really made hammock camping more comfortable was the structural ridgeline, as you mentioned. I made mine adjustable in length so I can use it for multiple hammocks and hanging situations. Semper Fi! Keep those videos coming.

Hey there I went on my first all night hammock camping this weekend and it was k but just couldn't get the perfect lay no matter how it was hung. I have a single 9.5 ft hammock and I'm 5'11" should I trade in for a double and I love your videos on hammock camping Thanks matt

I would recommend that you get a 11 footer. Depending on your weight. I would have the width between 58'' to 66''. Thank you for watching Matt. I always appreciate it.

I had a sleep number bed. I find it more comfortable to sleep in a hammock then that bed. They need to sell sleep number hammock ( a hammock that fits you ) at the department stores or malls. Thank you for watching It's Adventure Time. I always appreciate it.

Looks like you use a lot of different hammocks. Which light to medium weight hammock do you think is the flattest to lay in? Do they all have a foot box?
@AdventureswiththeMarine
@AdventureswiththeMarine Жыл бұрын
A bridge hammock provides the best flat lay every time you get in it. A gathered end hammock, you have to shift around asymmetrically to find that sweet spot. But in most cases. The cut of the bug net or winter cover. Is what shapes the hammock to create a foot box. Also, knotty mods on hammocks will do the same. Thank you for AT for watching. I really appreciate it.

I have only had one hammock and like it. However I like in Texas and during summer month the Mosquitoes bite right through. It’s the Easthills outdoors Skyloft ultra-light all-in- one hammock tent system. Any suggestions on a hammock system for someone for summer? I am about 5’11 and 155 lbs and don’t want it to be super bulky but I’m not a gram-weenie either. Thanks Marine!!

I believe the perfect hammock for you would be the Dream Hammock Darien. ( 11ft. in length and 64 - 68 inches in the width in the 1.6oz HyperD-XL ) Light weight and very comfortable. This is the favorite for many people that go backpacking. Thank you for watching Eric. I really appreciate it.

I have a double hammock. It has a 1.0 and 1.2 hexon . Do you think that will keep skeeters from biting through?
@AdventureswiththeMarine
@AdventureswiththeMarine Жыл бұрын
I use a 1.6. And never had a problem. I believe the 1.2 would be fine. But I have heard that people have had problems with the 1.0. But if you have an under quilt under you. Than it wouldn't matter. Thank you Kevin so much for watching. I really appreciate it.

Do you know by any chance what the onewind zippered hammock is? What brand is the 1.6 Hyper D you showed?
@AdventureswiththeMarine
@AdventureswiththeMarine Жыл бұрын
I have to be honest. I do not know much about Onewind. For someone that is staring out. It may be a good choice. I would purchase this before a ENO hammock. The 1.6 Hyper D was from a hammock that I got at Dutchware Gear ( www.dutchwaregear.com ). I really like there 1.6 Hexon better. Stronger and softer. Thank you Jessica for watching. I really appreciate it.

How log to get used to sleeping in a hammock? How was your experience? Are there people that can’t sleep and end up thinking hammock is not for them ultimately?
@AdventureswiththeMarine
@AdventureswiththeMarine 3 жыл бұрын
Stomach sleepers have a hard time in the gathered end hammock. I have yet to come across someone that really tried a hammock that fits them and found a flat lie. That sweet spot. And not find it very comfortable. But it is all about personal preference. Do what works best for you. Thank you Adalberto Maggio Junior. I always appreciate it.

You have to have a ridge line on your hammock or its going to rip.
@AdventureswiththeMarine
@AdventureswiththeMarine 3 жыл бұрын
If you are hanging it at a 30° angle. You do not need a ridgeline. But I always recommend that you have one because there are time you will have to hang it at a lower angle on the suspension. Thank you for watching STR4TEGYY. I really appreciate it.

If you are using a hammock to sit in or sleep in you need a ridgeline or you will rip your hammock. If you buy a decent hammock not a cheap one it already comes with 0ne. If it aint ripstop nylon i dont want any part of it.

I don't have a Ridgeline and I've hung at shallow angles with no tearing. 330lb and no ripstop either. And I sit in it often. I guess you're just wrong haha
