Hey KZfaq!
You probably landed on this video because you googled "how do I become a UX Designer with no experience" or "ux designer career" or some variation of those key words. Well I try my best to give you tips on how to start from ground zero to build your UX career.
The tips boiled down:
1. Research about the career and talk to people who are doing the thing!
2. Figure out what type of training you want to undertake.
3. Start flexing your design muscle!!!

🤔 Hello, I am finishing my 2 year apprenticeship in december. I was a marketing manager in a startup and had to do almost everything and try a bit of all things digital 😅.. I'm still struggling to find what I really want to do : product design, ux design or ui, digital marketing ( Strategy, SEO, Content or data analysis). If anyone have experience in both and can give me the reason why they like one more than the other it would be amazing !

I am so grateful that I get to do something I love and earn money but that's what it is - a means to an ends. There is absolutely NO SHAME in admitting that. It is called a 'job' afterall, not volunteer or passion project.

If you wanna transition into UX/UI, just do it. You don’t need to ask or research whether you should or have the skills to do it. Research on how, and work hard at it until your passion runs out. Answers will naturally present itself as you start taking actions. I’m self taught design for about 6 months now. On top of my full time job, I was learning UX, motion graphics, graphic designs until late at night and now about to start a new design job. So people, stop questioning yourself. If you don’t have the skills, learn it. The only thing holding you back is your mentality. Everything else can be learned.

I think the issue is folks don't know *where* to start which holds them back. Are you able to share the resources that you used in your journey to being a UX Designer? That'll be super helpful to folks looking on step 1 of changing their careers to design. Congrats on the upcoming design job!

yeah how did you learn ?? did you use youtube and just learn how to use certain programs ??
@Hamyhamster24

@@MIKE-yq1co i learned majority of designs fundamentals and programs through youtube tutorials and google. never went to school for it, though i love learning and still very much re-visit tutorials on regular basis. Ive been at my design job for a about a year now and it been hell of a ride figuring everything out on my own without senior designers to guide

Amazing video! thank you! I just noticed you're also in Toronto :) I noticed many people go for the bootcamps like Brainstation, but I'm currently gravitating towards the UofT certificate program. I wonder what the differences are?

Ronak Maru It was extremely stressful. You can make a lot of money, but I learned - in the hard way - that my mental health is much more important than making money. Also competitive programming killed the industry. The hiring process is a joke.

Hi Han! Your videos are great. Are there any specific bootcamps you recommend?
@HanBang
@HanBang 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeanette, not sure what’s available locally but I recommend doing research on programs or boot camps that have either an internship or established post graduate department(ie dedicated resources to help you find a job after graduation!). The boot camp is rarely the hard part, it’s the finding a job afterwards. Good luck!

I recently came across a scenario in a meeting(Which spoke about Visual Design and Usability Concepts) where Non-Designers in the company wanted to understand what questions they can ask the designers or other non-designers when they receive a file which in their understanding is not designed correctly. Can you suggest what questions should a Non Designer ask in this situation?

Thanks in the research phase. Started taking some it courses at a communit college. I've been interested in ux for a couple of years...got into a ux boot camp a a university but was too expensive, got two kids going off to college this year...just found a good program inexpensive, your videos are very informative. Thank you. Question...do you think this is a carer that someone in their MD to late 40's can transition into?

@HanBang

Not super important knowing how to code but so incredibly helpful to understand the basics of coding as a designer. This helps in convos with engineers and developers!

I'm currently a UX Designer at UNICEF, and recently made a video on how to break into UX Design. I did it without bootcamps, and have since worked at UNICEF, among many different firms. Feel free to send a connect on LinkedIn, or chat with me! // I do find this video rather interesting, though, and found your approach rather insightful. I'm definitely interested in collaborating one day, possibly! (when my channel grows larger).

Hi! I'm currently a senior in high school going into university next year, and becoming a UX designer is one of my dream jobs! Do you have any recommendations on what I should major in university that would best suit becoming a UX designer? For example, would it be better to major in design such as graphic design, or in technology such as computer science?
@HanBang
@HanBang 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Annie! I believe there might even be UX design majors now. If not, look up HCI, Sociology, or if you wanted to be more a visual designer, looking into fine arts or graphic programs
@levipotatowindex8263
@levipotatowindex8263 2 жыл бұрын
Remember that minors can also help round you out! If you want more UX, major in HCI/sociology and minor in art/design and vice versa if you want to mainly be a UI/visual designer :^) also psychology classes for electives are really great to take, too
