In this video I show how I make a coffee cup without a pottery wheel. Using only basic tools and slabs. I'm having my own kiln being tested now and soon I'll be showing how I work on the entire process including glazing and firing. I hope you like my videos! Hello I have a doubt In what measurements do you make your mug? (I mean height, diameter,thickness of slabs etc.) And, my clay cracked when I curled the clay slab for walls And, what's the average weight of clay you have used here? Is there any solutions? Would be real helpful if u replies Hoping for your reply soon BTW, great video, appreciate you 👏👏

Hi Sharon, the measurements are diameter 6cm x height 7cm, and the thickness is 2.5mm. This is the final piece measurement. You could plan your measurements based on your clay shrinkage.
@yukiceramics
@yukiceramics 2 ай бұрын
For the cracked issue, I would like to suggest giving it a good wedge and using a little more moisture to curl the clay.
@yukiceramics
@yukiceramics 2 ай бұрын
This is a good question. People used to ask me the same, but I always forgot to weigh before making the pieces. It also depends on how many pieces you want to make. I normally wedge a good amount of clay and use as I need. If you have any other questions, let me know. I will check the comments often. Thank you for watching!😊

Great video! So you don’t use dry clay and water (the mix of them, i don’t know the name of it in english i’m sorryyyyy 😢) to fix different pieces, correct? Never had any problem? Everyone always say to use it but i can’t find it so easily (and i have not always the dray clay to do it By myself) so if it’s possible ti avoid it, it would be a great discovery 😍

Hi, In this video, I use vinegar to join the two pieces. I've never had any problems, but I always use clay on the joints after joining the parts. In some situations, I do use slip (clay + water) as well. Both work perfectly. Hope it helped you! 😁

Can I please ask why you work on the canvas fabric rather than a board? I’m new to ceramics. Thanks
@yukiceramics
@yukiceramics 14 күн бұрын
With the moisture in the clay, it can adhere to wood and may deform when moved. With fabric, even if it sticks, it's easy to detach without causing much deformation.

Can u plz tell how to glaze the pottrey
@yukiceramics
@yukiceramics 4 ай бұрын
Basically, I use two glazing techniques. The first involves using a brush. Some glazes require two or more coats, depending on the glaze. The other technique is dipping, where you immerse the piece in the glaze for a short period, like 3-5 seconds, then remove it. The dipping time also varies depending on the glaze. There are other techniques as well! This is a great suggestion for a video. Thank you!😊
