I take forever to feed my babies 😂 I’m worried I’m going to put it done their wind pipe. I put some in their mouth and wait for them to swallow. This is my first time hand feeding 😅

Hi enjoying the videos. Question whats the name of the formula in the red cap jar? Have you used Hagen - Tropican formula?

Thank you for watching! We have not used Hagen formula. The red capped container is the Kaytee Exact High Fat formula. We buy it in large bags and keep it in the freezer just filling the jar as we need it.

Thank you for sharing so many helpful tips. How can I encourage my 7 week old cocktail to eat on his own. I am offering seed and millet and only feeding him three times a day, but he still wants formula.

Thank you for the kind words. At some point, you need to start pulling food away from him. I would start by pulling back on the middle feeding until it's completely gone. Then do the same with the morning feeding. Lastly, the might feeding. It takes time! Keep lots of fresh water and food available for him. Once I see a bird eat millet... I know the weaning will soon come.

Is it common for first time cockatiel parents to abandon their babies after incubating the eggs to term? I'm mostly prepared in case this will happen. I've got a chick plate, syringes, baby bird food, pyrometer. But I'm still worried because I've never raised a baby bird before. Also, my birds decided to double clutch (8 days into incubation they made a 5th egg). Is it a huge concern? The parents are fine, I'm worried about the babies. 8 days is a huge age gap so I'm afraid of potential deaths. Plus the whole reason why I allowed my birds to breed this time is because I was hoping they'd stop being so hormonal and I could work on managing their hormones from scratch. Can I stop them from over breeding while not discouraging them from parenting the fertilised eggs? (Becky's 7 Aurelius is 18 months old)

Do some baby birds start to not eat as much formula as they are eating more pellets, chop and seeds? I have seven week old red factor sun conures and two of them are eating less formula than the youngest one. I’ve been putting food out for them.

i saw some vid giving warm water to their handfeed tiel when they have a food that hasn't digested. It didn't bounce back exactly like yours did. Should i do that too or should i just thin my next feeding? thanks

ive been hand feeding my now 4 week old chics for 10 days they never would make the feeding sound. nor beg me, only when they see their parents they would make the sound. i started feeding with a long tube so they wont starve, but now they hate me😢

Oh no I’m sorry. What kind of baby birds do you have? I have 3 seven week old red factor sun conures I’m feeding. I’m just using a syringe. I was scared to use the tube. I would take them out at 2.5 weeks old and put them on my lap. Their parents would feed them on my lap. The babies are super friendly. We are having cuddle time.

@@RosieandFriends1 i have 4 cockteils, 3 of which are very close to weaning, but the runt of the clutch is still small compared to them, might need 2 more weeks on formula to catch up, but i tried changing the brand, the syringe size, the temp, nothing seems to make them want to eat from me,,but they will roar and squeek when getting treats from their parents lol i wish the parents would just feed them

@@br0kensun my babies will take formula from me but they are not eating as much. The runt is still taking a lot of formula. So I think maybe the bigger two are eating more of the food I’m putting out. My babies beg from me it’s super cute. I’m surprised your babies won’t just take food from the syringe. This is my first time hand feeding baby birds.

Same story, on 3rd day birds hate me too. I've read that 3-4 weeks is bad time to start hand feeding becausecthey are already used to parents. Anything changed?

@@piotro7096 idk I pulled mine out at 5-5.5 weeks and they are soooo friendly, sweet, cuddly and love people. Mine are sun conures though so maybe they are different. When they were 2.5 weeks I would take them out and put them on my lap and pet them. Their parents would fly around and come and feed them on my lap so maybe that helped that they were handled at a young age. I’m not sure this is my first experience with hand feeding baby birds. They are all weaned now and eating on their own.
