Great video! I just got on the 20 gauge bandwagon this year! I’m going after turkeys with mine! Love the videos!

How about a recipe for a 3" 20 ga., 15/8 oz. #9 TSS?
@ronaldjohnson1474Ай бұрын
The ONLY choke manufacturer I know about that allows steel shot tighter than modified is Briley. I may be wrong, but TSS is tungsten steel shot.
@theshotgunscientistsАй бұрын
Tss means tungsten super shot, nothing to do with steel actually. It’s fine for Turkey chokes because usually people use sizes like #9 which is tiny.

I shot a 2 3/4 Apex #9 the other day at what turned out to be 55 yards and was impressed with what it did. Of course, if I am shooting at a turkey at 50 yards, it is probably because I missed him at about 25 or 30. 😂 Nice to know I have a little wiggle room though.

Breakdown and go get a Stevens 301 20 gauge. It comes with extra full choke tube and go buy Carlson's Cyl. thru Full and Rifled choke tubes. The Cyl. thru Full you can shoot steel shot. They all work great.

What's your opinion on 20/28 powder considering I shoot a 20 bore and am thinking of switching to 28 bore for clays, the low pressure appeals to me because I like the older sxs I think I'm right in a straight walled hull would be better
@theshotgunscientists8 ай бұрын
I’ve never been able to get any of that powder so I’ve never used it
@Natedawg7707 күн бұрын
Revisiting this video, how would you go about bringing this down to 1 oz and roll crimping?
@theshotgunscientists7 күн бұрын
You’d have to email bpi about that

What powder do you prefer Longshot or Lil Gun in 1.5 oz buckshot loads in the 12 ga and 20 ga?
@theshotgunscientists5 ай бұрын
Lil gun would have to be used in 20 gauge but longshot is plenty capable for 12.

Is it ok to substitute pellet size with TSS load data? Something like #2 - BB TSS in this same load?
@theshotgunscientists3 ай бұрын
Pellet size doesn’t matter it’s all about the payload weight. Bigger pellets do take up more volume if going from like a 9 to a 4 for example.

I've had a M3020 since it was released. It's been a great gun; squirrels, rabbits, crows, ducks, geese and turkey hunt with mine. Going to load up some light TSS, 1oz and these 1 1/4oz for turkey hunting this year. Bad shoulder so I need something with less thump than the 1 3/8 oz Apex I used last year.

Does it matter what kind of buffer you use?

Yes if using other brands but bpi buffer is interchangeable as far as I can tell.

Great data. Ill tell ya what tho 1.25 ounces is a ton for waterfowl. I load and shoot .875 with no buffer out of a carlsons mid range at 1350ish fps. It'll throw 97 or 98% patterns inside 30" at 40 yards. #6.5 would be insane overkill. The #7 i shoot will pass all the way through a big goose at 70 yards. 9 shot would be perfect for ducks.
@saltcreekammo8 ай бұрын
I can tell you #7 will not pass through a goose at 70 yards.
