You are correct on the code....the cities may have addeum to the code but the national ADA code is 1:12 or 1 inch rise per foot of run with a maximum of 30 inch maximum rise per run...with a minimum width of 36 inches between the railings.

Damn I wish I knew about this video before my grandma passed away a few weeks ago. I could've got my dad, who knows how to build stuff like this to put a ramp on our house's porch so we wouldn't have to carry her. Oh well.

Sorry to hear about your lost. I feel your pain. I was fortunate enough to build this for my mom about a year before she passed away. I know it made it easier for her.
