For this part of the world, when it was new, it was a big tractor. Now of course it is dwarfed by the latest ones. I was just pleased that I remembered enough about diesels to do a couple of tricks they didn't know. They were impressed! What happens next is another story, putting it right is way too expensive for them, back tyres are about 1,200 Euro each. It needs a service to the water pump or maybe a new one and some little bits and pieces, new flexible hoses and that exhaust sorting out.

Now to encourage the lads to improve it!

Not as crazy as bringing a tractor from the USA or China! The numbers on this one suggest that it came here when it was brand new.

Jacob was at home about 10 miles away. I have now had time to rootle around the internet, these were built between 1962 and 1967, 5,100 of them were made. The engine was not unique to this tractor, so we might be able to get a new exhaust manifold. We could have done with Malc, none of us know what all the gear type levers do, but, the object of today was to make it run, Francois did drive it backwards and forwards a couple of feet. Putting it back on the road might be way too expensive, needs a complete set of tyres. The book says it is 50HP, but with a lot of low down grunt.

It is always fun to be presented with a vehicle that won't run and to leave it running! Also fun is that I am older than this tractor but the lads think it is positively archaic. To them, things like priming the injectors is a novelty.

If we can work out all the 'gear sticks', I think we can have a lot of fun with it.

This one may well be put to work. Exactly what work is another question!
