Hey, when you're in a combat situation, you've got a pretty good chance of dying. Explosive cover is better than no cover, so might as well risk going kaboom in favor of getting shot in the open.

Quick tip: the faction Space Refugees doesn't have a relationship meter. Letting them go is pointless. Either let them die, rescue them and arrest if they don't join, or just capture outright.

You can probably re-arrange the generators to be in the living quarters to save power on heaters. Probably because the more you have the hotter it gets and you'll have to think about venting excess heat out and that's a pain in the ass to manage.

You can use "dead power" on turrets, put a wire under it not connected to any actual power and click "reconnect" and it should connect to the new wire, this way a colonist doesn't have to do it and you can just click the reconnect button again if it's close to live power

You can train the shooting skill by equipping a smoke launcher or emp launcher and force targeting an animal. It does take some micromanagement as you have to draft the colonist and remember to un draft them before they starve or mental break.

From experience, you should store the chemfuel and other explosives in their own storage room. You can make something like a small closet in your main stockpile to contain any accidental explosions.

So you can sort of automate your base by making a random unconnected and unpowered piece of wire near an item that requires power. Then just swap between the powered line and the unpowered line as needed using your shortcut bar at the bottom of the screen. Now you don't need your colonists to turn your turrets on!

Pro Tip: Work with the Home zone area: And define what is and what is not a home zone. This can help you with setting the drop zones for goods and others inside the boundaries of your base.

he needs an outdoor beacon near his wind power area (store steal, stone furniture etc.. in this zone). drops will always go to the outdoor beacon storage zone first instead of random.

@ambiguousamphibian - You can open the door of your storage room, this will create an easier pathing for the raiders to access your stockpile, this is useful because they target the walls less and move towards your killing hallway. Also even with the door open your items are still considered indoors.

Oh yea, pretty sure you can just put a deep drill anywhere on the ground and you'll get stone chunks, but you might have to do it on stone ground, which i think you have gotten from a few metiors. You should try it out so you can build walls and traps with it.

Hi AA. I have a tip for you for better power management. Build a power cable that's not connected to anything next to your turrets or any machines that consume a lot of power, then you will be able to use the reconnect button on the machine/turret to switch between using power from your grid and from the dead cable. this is nice since now your pawns wont have to spend time flicking switches on your machines to turn them off or on. love the series keep it up ! like this so he sees :P

@ ambiguousamphibian - GRAVES are free ! they require no materials to build and they are fireproof on top of it. :D If you build graves where the enemies take cover they cannot longer use those walls for cover. ( Since they cannot stand up in graves, they can move thru them but not stand in them. )

That mech was a pikeman. For safest results you should melee when possible, it has almost no melee ability and can't fire when engaged in melee.

I know its an old trick but I always put one disconnected power cable near turrets/high power requirement things so you can just reconnect them and they turn off. Instead of having a colonist go all the way just to flip the switch off.

Cask of Amontillado? You are truly a being of culture. Now that you've noticed that your generators produce heat I hope you'll use that for your advantage. Your plants can use all the heat you can give them, after all. A repeat from last time but you can kill two birds with one stone and send the heat of your cooler into the parts of your base that need it. I am thoroughly invested in the future of Orange and his posse. Keep 'em coming please!

A tip: Around machines that don't need to be active full time, build a conduit piece not connected to your actual power grid. Makes it so you can remotely turn sentries on/off using the reconnect feature, and your pawns can concentrate on positioning themselves. Works wonders for temp control too. It's very cheesy, but my bases cannot live without it haha.
