With BOTH the V2s and the Goggles 2 on the table ..... which one would you daily fly ????
@OneManUnmanned
@OneManUnmanned Жыл бұрын
That’s a really difficult question, because at present time, they have different capabilities and compatibility with other products. If I used the Goggles2 for daily, i would be limited to only the Avata. With the V2, I’m currently able to fly any drone with an air unit, as well as my analog drones(it is my primary analog goggles). If there was more compatibility with the Goggles2(especially with original Air Units), then I would choose those. Currently the V2 serves me best, but that doesn’t mean the Goggles2 won’t have compatibility in the future.

Hello! How you can verify that this receiver really works in Diversity mode? Is there any tests/logs. Thank you!
@OneManUnmanned
@OneManUnmanned 11 ай бұрын
I don’t have any logs to check if Diversity mode really works. You might want to email the manufacture for those details. There are more companies making these RX as well, and I’m sure you’ll see a lot more in the coming weeks…Keep your eye peeled

I feel like my crossfire diversity doesn't work. 1rss and 2rss anyways read the same amount. I even tried covering 1 antenna at a time with foil and leaving house to see. Both rss read the same. Idk

That’s interesting..I have not had the opportunity to install this RX in a drone as of yet. Maybe the ELRS Discord would know.

@OneManUnmanned yea I might try elrs on a long range. But really like to do elrs 900 (thats in my explorer lr) but don't know if they have diversity in 900 so might have to do 2.4 (extra penetration just piece of mind)

I get your question, but in air is different than ground test for diversity.
@divingfalconfpv4602
@divingfalconfpv4602 Жыл бұрын
@saraheart8527 yeah. I tested further. Seems it works but the 1rss 2rss just read the strongest antenna reading always. Because totally blocking an antenna either still worked good. Blocking both and lost range
@saraheart8527
@saraheart8527 Жыл бұрын
@@divingfalconfpv4602 Yeah, that makes sense. I don't think most people realize how fast the switching from antenna to antenna really happens. I'd bet your Crossfire is working fine in actuality. TBS makes some great stuff. I run their equipment myself. And as an Engineer who has seen a lot of circuit boards, theirs are both designed and built to the highest specs. No, I don't work for them. : )

I just want to know how you set your antenna on RC when you put both vertical and horizontal on quad. Because what i know quad antenna vertical then you must do the same at RC
@saraheart8527

Imagine a V shape that both antenna's make. The bottom of the V sits JUST LIKE this V here on top of your plane Both antennas are 45 degrees from straight up vertical on your plane, so when you turn, there is always 1 antenna that comes close to being perfectly vertical (polarized) to the vertical antenna on the ground. Matching polarity's of the ground antenna is the point of the V shape, 1 will always be closer to proper polarization, hence getting a proper good signal. Make any sense?

Not sure I get your explanation about dual RX : "double antenna diversity" works with ELRS diversity feature. What is the difference here ? Does it also use ELRS diversity feature ? If yes, it actually changes nothing versus "double antenna diversity". Double RX just brings hardware redundancy in case of failure. I am not sure higher price and bigger footprint is worth it : I have never witnessed a RX diying in the air (and if powering fails, both RX will be down anyway). Maybe I am missing something, but I don't see the "game changing" factor here. I have also asked Gal Kremer about it, but he wasn't sure it had any real benefits beyond redundancy.
@OneManUnmanned
@OneManUnmanned Жыл бұрын
How do you not understand..I was trying to be as clear and simple as possible. Antenna diversity chooses or switches between the two antennas. True diversity uses both at the same time(no switching). Plus you can mount them in different orientation to reduce the null points. It's like having one Antenna connected to your TV versus having two Antennas mounted at opposite ends of your house, but connected to the TV at the same time. Which option is going to perform better?
@jejefpv
@jejefpv Жыл бұрын
@@OneManUnmanned I didn't understand because you provided no explanation that makes sense to me 😅 (no offense, I am really trying to understand). Diversity is about chosing the best signal at a given time. ELRS compares RSSI from antenna 1 and RSSI from antenna 2. It is a feature of ELRS that needs to be enabled for diversity RXs in ELRS firmware. There is nothing like "using both at the same time", in the end only frame is kept (it is not like some analog vRX which applies some algorithm to mix 2 frames). And antenna diversity allows to mount them in different orientation, that is the point. So I don't understand the comparision with a TV and a single antenna, I have never said anything about single antenna RX. Maybe there is something in ELRS 3.0 that brings something new to the table I am not aware of. And that was the point of my question : why true diversity is better than antenna diversity with ELRS (beyond redundancy). With true diversity, the best signal from both RXs will be chosen. With antenna diversity, the best signal from both antenna will be chosen. Why the first would be better than the second ? ELRS must do something specific here, no ?
@OneManUnmanned
@OneManUnmanned Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, I did not see your reply. You saw my reply and read yours.. You're still saying antenna diversity chooses between the two antennas. That's correct. True diversity does NOT have to choose between the two. I know nothing about the ELRS firmware other than HappyModel will release a target for this specific receiver in the near future.
@jejefpv
@jejefpv Жыл бұрын
@@OneManUnmanned No worries mate. I agree, True Diversity doesn't choose between antenna, but in the end, it chooses between RX signals (it has to choose, we need one packet, not a duplicated one). And choosing between RX signals is finally choosing one antenna, since each RX has one antenna. If one RX fails (burns or whatever) the second one will keep providing packets, so it is more resilient that one RX with 2 antennas. But having a RX dying in the air is not something common and I am not sure the extra cost is really worth it if it just adds redundancy in case of a super rare issue. Thats why I was initially asking if True Diversity was bringing something more than what I thought :) Maybe we'll know more when ELRS will release the specific target :)
@lemonsquareFPV

ELRS3 can use duplicate packets. The same packet is sent 2 or more times. I foresee this receiver being very useful with this feature. Your signal will be significantly more stable with significantly less missing packets. I assume this is why we are getting a bunch of diversity receivers all at the same time. With the final release of V3. Just like the way most racers run Ghost with the same true diversity and duplicate packets. This appears to be the same thing. Which is amazing, and it does make a pretty substantial difference to packet loss. And control feel and consistency. I love ELRS. I have been on V3 for a couple of months and have been extremely happy. Curious to try this receiver.
