$240.00? They have gone up a bit since then. They are now $310.00 if you can find them. We've got two Harbor Freight stores nearby and both of them are out of stock for this splitter and have been for over two months. I've tried splitting wood with a wedge and hammer but at 79 it's just a little more than I can take after just a few logs. I'll keep looking for one that has had some good reviews but their aren't many of those around. Yours was a good review and I was glad to hear that Harbor Freight stood behind you when you noted the two problems you had with yours. Thanks.

Just got one LOVE IT. The directions aren't specific. They say to remove the vent plug before use and replace after. The wing nut on the end. I removed it but hours later had hydraulic fluid coming out. I thought maybe it was defective but I'm guessing it just needs to be unscrewed a few times not completely removed. In your video I see it in place as many other videos. Any insight???

Problem resolved, you just loosen it a bit not fully remove it. The manual should be more specific as it says to remove it. Thanks for your response

Richard Stets I just got one myself last week and had the same question. Does yours also require you to turn the switch on and operate the lever at the same time ? I’ve only read the instructions -haven’t had a chance to use it yet but seems like a pain to have to use 2 hands to operate.

I want to know how it keeps running and being able to split wood. Mine has to have the lever released and motor stopped before the ram will return. You can lock the switch on with a clamp but the ram will not return with the motor running

You don't have to hold the wood as it splits.

How do you make it run constant with out holding down the button? I cant make myne run constant.

the motor keeps running, but the splitting action only happens when i hold down the lever

since the video, i've worked it very very hard. Probably pushed it way beyond its limits and its held up well. Scale of 1-10....?? not having anything else to compare it to, i'd say an 8. Only con is its hard to move around. The rear wheels should be set wider apart and be a larger diameter.

Just purchased one and it works pretty slick. Forgot to remove the vent plug a couple of times, the wing screw with the tag attached to it, and a little oil squeezed past the ram seal. No harm done and no weeping as long as it’s vented.

Harbor Freight warranties tend to be fairly short.

i dont think of it as one handed.

What I mean is, I've only seen where I have to press & hold a button on the motor while at the same time pushing the lever arm. If only 1 of them are pressed, it won't work. I prefer the way yours works

I see, yes it takes just one hand to hold down lever that activates the splitter....it really is a simple procedure......i haven't split any wood in a while, i need to get back out there

@@lmajc494 or find a bolt that fits and then go and buy a long one . You could drill a hole in a dowel and but the bolt through it for comfort.
