Shotgun Chess is GENUINELY a cool game that also happens to frustrate me a lot, which is my own cross to bear. It's a bit like chess meets XCOM meets Into the Breach, and it shows. Check it out!

He's playing hard mode? I thought this was over when he saw the final boss once, I already wasn't expecting last episode. This is Double Bonus territory, my pogs already overfloweth last episode, they now gather and ferment.

The game is not over yet… there is a secret boss fight. To unlock it you need to leave a bishop alive on the final boss fight, and your enemy need to have the red book and theocracy among their card.

@@BA-lt1pn Too luck dependent. Tyler literary have 19 videos of SG: The Final Checkmate and have 0 that have both Red Book and Theocracy. That's probably the reason he quit SG: Final Checkmate in addition there is a rumor that any videos named "Shotgun King" is demonitized (thanks KZfaq).

NL never pays attention to when they're king is about to move. So, unironically, the fact that he's played chess before is probably messing him up.

I appreciate that Blunderbuss was paired with Crusades, because taking that pair of cards was definitely a blunder. Also, I love this game and I hope NL keeps playing it. Edit: Holy shit, does August Presence stop pawns from moving forward at all if they'd have to move into your personal space?

Yep. My best run so far was august presence + grenades + enemy had like 14 pawns. All I had to do was walk up to the pawns so they couldn't get out then toss grenades over their heads to kill all the important pieces behind. It was stupid,.

Stacking firepower upgrades is where its at. When you can one shot even a queen its much harder to be put in checkmate.

I just want to point out the fact that the enemy pieces are so incredibly powerful. You’re out here with a whole SHOTGUN yet you require multiple full blasts to take down the enemy king, and hes so powerful he can just play normal chess and one tap you by simply moving to the same square you occupy.

I beat normal difficulty in like an hour of buying the game, and I bought it after nls first video. It took me until yesterday to beat hard. It's so much harder

19:30 was a scam your shields should have popped. Absolutely rigged. That bishop was 100% dead if not the game shouldn't have let you shoot.

Sometimes they pop when its a guaranteed kill especially with the scope and sometimes it lets you send it even when there is no chance it works. You can't shoot through two pieces like what he was trying to do there

Yeah, the shield algorithm is a bit weak and the visuals are a little bit misleading; as I understand it, it just checks that the target entirely contains the base arc and your firepower vs the targets health. The only way that that shot was makeable though was if all the pellets passed through either G6 or H5 on the way to H6.

Very hard makes it so much worse. It removes your starting soul slot. You become a regular king with 1 shell essentially.

I think 19:09 is where he truly loses the run. Instead of staying close by and trying to kill off the queen he puts himself in the corner, allowing the stronger pieces to close him off

He always just lets dangerous pieces live for no reason when he has the opportunities to kill them and make the board safer to navigate but he'd rather do 1 damage to the king

Tbf, I think he hated it because of the backseaters who don't know shit that keeps on talking He likes the game (i think) and he might keep playing until he beats the hardest difficulty.

why does he always choose not to insta kill units in front of him when he can? so many times he moves one spot away when he has a 100% of killing a bishops or horse in front of him

He thinks those 100% shots are sometimes missable. He believes this, cuz he botched those shots in his early runs (either aimed the gun badly or had saboteur (one bullet has twice the arc)).

Diagonal shots are not guaranteed to land every shot, only guaranteed when he is adjacent to them in a cross.

@@tanis016 Just did a bunch of testing just to make sure, diagonal shots def are also a 100% chance to hit at point-blank range. There might be some fringe cases when you're spread is super wide but even then unless you have that one debuff that makes one of your bullets go rogue then i think you're totally fine.

@@tanis016 It seems to me that all of nl's diagonal shot misses are due to orthogonal pieces blocking in the way. It should hit 100% if there are no obstacles. I may be wrong though.

That is true in normal chess. This is chess with shotgun, random upgrade cards for each color, soul cards, pieces spawning in middle of a game, etc.

There is a demo version of the game. All it gives you is endless mode with only half of the upgrade cards available. However, what I've noticed is that hard mode starts out exactly the same as the demo endless mode... Lol People who want to try the game out have to play it on hard lol
