My moisture meter has two settings for firewood also. I change between them depending on the wood I'm testing (hard wood, soft wood) as they require a different preset resistants in the meter to achieve their described accuracy depending on the density of the wood. Most of the operators manuals will give a list of species for each setting on the meter.

Hi, great video! The axis is a great splitter, I have several and if could only have one it would be my axis. Although I seen wolf ridge has a new vertical splitter. Did you see it at the last show? It looks very nice…. I like to try one out I sold wood for a long time and never used a moisture meter before. Might get one . Thanks for the video

The Axis is a very nice and versatile splitter for sure. I did get to see the Wolfe Ridge splitter but not run it. It does look nice. The rotating conveyor could come in handy in certain set ups. I like double checking myself with the moisture meter from time to time as occasionally I am wrong of if wood is ready or not.

Paul, as long as it’s consistent and you learn what range your wood burns best at on that meter the # really doesn’t matter.

Moisture meters are like tire gauges, you have to believe what it tells you or get another.

I learned this the hard way with a bad tire pressure gauge when a bike tire blew up in my face. Not all gauges/meters are created equal or calibrated correctly.

hi there good on the MMs , hay off subject , i believe you said something on the phone the other day about how close you were going to place your boiler to the house . from time to time they shoot fire and sparks up the stack , you need to place the boiler far away from the house , and dont stack wood next to a uncovered boiler , they catch on fire , look into this before picking your boiler location , john

So, how do you like the tractor bucket compared to that orange table? Lots easier to move around, and lift up and down, don't need that blue pole for reaching, all that! Glad I'm not one of those people that just have to say "Told ya' so!" Just kidding you. It sure does make my life easier!!
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors 9 ай бұрын
For the Axis it is perfect, however for the All Wood or Horizontal splitters the table still works better. Having both is perfect!

I have found that maple is a problem if you don’t cut it and burn it within 9 months. Then it starts to get punky and grows mushrooms. I always keep it away from my oak. Have a lot of swamp maple on my property. It also creates more ash than oak. I’m going to sell my maple in bundles, I can’t stand burning it.
