The Choral Scholars of Arundel Cathedral sing Hark! The herald angels sing to the tune by Mendelssohn, and the famous descant by David Willcocks.
This was recorded back at Christmas 2020 when social distancing was in place, hence why all the singers are spaced out.
Conducted and accompanied by me. Due to logistical reasons, the organ you hear is the sample set version of Rotterdam.

Beautiful singing. Enjoying it hugely as I rest this Saturday afternoon. I don’t know how old I (but probably quite a bit older than Richard is now) was when I realised that Charles Wesley wrote “Sun of Righteousness” and not “Son” because he was quoting from Malachi chapter 4 verse 2. Now back to enjoying the singing!

This Carol will always have a special place in my heart after playing it in my first ever service I accompanied (it was the Christmas morning service). I will never forget the amazing feeling of properly accompanying a congregation in the singing of this wonderful carol (and cutting them short a verse because I had recieved the wrong order of service ;) )

👍👏 Just a shame Mendelssohn/Willcocks didn't write this in a lower key. The high Ds are murder for basses!!

Spare a thought for those of us who use Hymns Ancient And Modern Revised, where those Ds are Es!!!

@beautyinsound. No, it's in G, but if you sing verse three in unison then it's top Es in the last line - and it's Es for the congregation all the way through. Thougj to be fair a number of the hymns are higher and brighter in the A&M(R). Even quite a top F's in things like Ewing, St. Gertrude, Miles Lane and Westmister Abbey in particular
