I've got an 883 and its slow as fuck compared to my zx6r 636, but what it lacks in speed it makes up for on the fun factor. It really is fun to cruise around. People get caught up with performance and really its a freakin cruiser. Just cruise. If you want power just get a liter bike and hit the track.

+ProTuner06 You said the magic word: Kids. We were all into more speed when we were younger, and most of us took some good falls in the process. A little maturity goes a long way- I enjoy riding more than ever after almost 50 years of riding.

+ProTuner06 To me it is not about the fastest anything. However, when I press the accelerator on something I want it to take me down the road. I am looking for a good started bike and think that I have decided on the Harley Forty Eight. I have been doing research and they are a little easier to handle, especially with wider tire on front. Plus it will last me a long time because it will probably have enough power to keep me satisfied.

I just switched from a r6 to a 48. It is a great bike and if you decide to grab a 48 make sure to get a 12” ape bars, Vance and Hines exhaust, a gel seat to insert inside the original, and different rear shocks. Everything else is amazing I might keep the low front handle bars because the feeling around turns going 60 is truly and amazing feel. I can still lean forward like my r6 and have fun on it picking up some speed. The r6 and my liter bike kept getting stolen and the wife tilde me to get rid of the speed demons so I decided to meet in the middle. And Harley’s sound so nice.

Got a brandnew 883 this year. Before I rode 883s and 1200s to have some kind of comparison. Of course the 1200 felt more powerful but that didn't mean more fun for the ride. Both bikes feel relatively equal when it comes to cruising and fun. I don't miss the extra power as the 883 performs fine - and neither of those bikes was built for a racetrack.

Now it's fun as hell! Other than aesthetics, I see no reason for the 883. If you have good right wrist control and some common sense, the 1200 is the perfect bike, even for new riders. I know, because I rode both and the Iron 1200 is my first street bike.

I test rode a 2016 883 Iron (my wife is buying one and wanted to know what I thought of it) and would have to say it was probably the most fun Harley I've ridden. The gearing on the 883 is much friendlier than the taller gearing on the 1200. Ok, so it won't cruise as well on the motorway, but who wants to do endless motorway miles on either an Iron or a Forty-Eight? Oh, and the clutch lever is lighter on the 883 - much better for girl hands :)
@oafyvonskidmark3168 жыл бұрын
+JEAS Change the size of the front sprocket/pulley if a belt, you got gears. I read the 883 and 1200 are almost identical if not but for the clutch springs and gearing as you mention, but also read the 883 clutch springs need to be upgraded to a 1250's ability if ever kitted.

Oh yes, have a stock Iron and a Fourty-Eight start at the same place and same time; Depending on the distance, the Iron would easily win for the sheer fact that the tank is bigger. No a 1200 kit is basically just a rebuild of the motor with bigger parts. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but a 883 with a 1200 kit would be the exact same as regular 1200 from the factory except the 883 heads have a little less airflow which is fine except a little less power.. You could buy 1200 heads though or get the original 883 heads machined and it would be the same as a factory 1200.

@@panteraowns2515 well than your 883 isn't faster than a 1200. Your 883 bored to 1200 or 1250/1275 might be faster than a stock 1200 but an 883 is nowhere near a 1200 stock for stock. The way it was worded is that your 883 is faster than a 1200 which it would absolutely not be. I have a 1200 with lots of mods too and there isnt an 883 anywhere near that can touch my 1200. What do you have done to your bike? I'm not knocking it either, I am sure it's an awesome bike as almost all sportys whether 883 or 1200 are, like I said before, it sounded like you were comparing a stock 883 to a stock 1200. I have a short video of the bike the day I picked it up in October, but it is nothing like that now hahaha if you are anything like me, you have to keep modding the Sporty because : 1. +Gurdit Singh from 2000 rpm to 5000 rpm the harley 48 has more power - and you can feel that really. Up to 6000 than the bonny takes off...
@gsingh56178 жыл бұрын
Well the bonnie is faster isn't it..?;)
@Toni62R8 жыл бұрын
+Gurdit Singh I think both do vmax about 190/195 km/h - but in reality I think, Harley-Driver seldom test the top speed of their bike. Last week I had a test drive on a 48 2016 (with better suspension and beefy fork) - and I was very impressed how strong and nimble the bike was. At low revs it feels definitly stronger than a normal bonny.
@gsingh56178 жыл бұрын
And which one reaches that speed first?...what I have researched 2015 bonnie can go 0-100kmph in 4.9-5.2 secs...and the Harley around.5.9-6.0,,,,, However the 2016 bonnie isn't out yet..only spy shots with liquid cooled 1000cc+ displacement engine(acc. to critics) will see then ;-)

They r sooo slow. Well, it’s a cruiser, go get a jet of ur choice n stop looking at these bikes then. Gosh, well makes sense; u always wanna go as fast as possible so when u crash u just dnt suffer.

Zx6r 600 cc 0 to 100 3.54 seconds, Harley 48 0 to 100 in 4.22 seconds 883 0 to 100 in 6.9 seconds.. A 600 can beat higher ccs, amazing.
@ogloc44785 жыл бұрын
Not really. Take a 350-400 hp v8 truck and see if it can beat a 200 hp 4 cyl sports car. Harley is the truck in this situation
@omarsalgado97153 жыл бұрын
In the long run, absolutely, but you gotta rev up that 600 cc to extract all its potential. Meanwhile, with the 1200, it pushes hard at low rpm, like 2500, which is by far more desirable for cruising or street riding. So, no, it doesn't beat anything because the engines meet different purposes. I'd be a loser having a sport bike for street or mountainous riding, and I'd be a loser to to race a 1200 in a track against a sport bike.
