1990 i went to the drag strip in muncie indiana for the first time on my 1987 VT1100cc honda shadow. muncie ran ET, Elapse Time racing. the show ran 13.65 seconds in 1/4 mile. at 96mph. not fast, but very consistent. hot, cold, warm, the shadow ran 13.65. in 1991 i ran everytime the gate was open at Muncie. wednsday, saturday, and sunday. i ran as many passes as i could during time trails. i got my reaction time down to an average .550 - .575, on a .500 tree. i raced bikes, cars, 4 wheelers, as long as it was ET. 1992 i ran at Indy for the first time. I ran all season at both tracks. if the gates were open, you found me at the track. i ran as part of the Indy Team, at the NHRA Indy Nationals in 92, I also ran as a Team Member in Norwalk Ohio for Muncie IHRA ran again at both tracks 93, and 94. in September of 94 i bought a kawasaki drag bike, 1200cc 8.5" slick, 9.6sec, 130+mph, 1/4mile finished out 94 on the kaw, but ran both bikes. front of the line with the kaw, and mid line with the shadow, round and round i'd go. made both teams every year i ran. the kaw was so much fun. again ran both bikes in 1995, again made both teams. i ran at action traction one event in terre haute Indiana, ran at Bunker Hill outside of Kokomo Indiana a few times. won at action traction, and bunker hill. on the shadow. at Bunker Hill, and on the Kaw at action Traction. I raced with Wesley Wells in Muncie, along with David and Mary Taylor, plus Tom Sudman. I miss the racing, the crowds, and the fellowship among the racers. Run what You brung, was the saying at Muncie. Indy was strict on what ran on their track.

@db3170 demanding? I have owned both and the Harley with its massive amount of torque was so forgiving and easy to race. You could accidentally leave in 2nd and it would still go, and not lose much time. My gs drag bike, if you try to leave at the wrong RPM, it will die or, at best, bogg for a second or 2.

Harley V-Rod raced by Vance and Hines dethroned and crippled the mighty, hahaha,GS11000 Suzuki in the quarter mile. Racing council penalized the V-Rod by forcing V&H to add weight to the bike.V-Rod still crushed every single rice puff on track . Everyone knows a rice puff is cheap and don't last.The Iron Horse Harley Davidson can carry the mail or shit on it, whatever you want.👏👏👏

Cubic inches aren't cubic inches when one is able to rev much higher much faster. Comparing them like that is just dumb,especially when one is pushrod and air cooled and the other is OHC liquid cooled😂

I was always for multi's but, Harley's and Indians are coming up on the charts. I've got a 1200 Harley Sportster 2004 model year and it's very stable. I'm on the side of the V-twins.

I raced Harley's at Virgina International Raceway, I miss those times and all the guys I used to race with from Virginia Beach and Norfolk. I Live in LaGrange, Texas now and no longer race but still ride!

Torque is handy if you're pulling out a stump. Not so much when you're trying to get a Harley to go faster than 80. Only HD riders use torque as a measuring stick. Everyone else uses horsepower.....oh, and speed. Measurements Harley seems to find unimportant.

This is not head to head leave the starting line at the exact same time TRUE DRAG racing! I have always loved true drag racing but all these guys are doing is racing a clock and not actually each other. Handicapped Racing is, and in my book, will never be true drag racing. Go heads up racing and the win lose percentage ratio will change dramatically in favor of the Japanese bikes, no doubt about it!! My 250cc scooter could take home the winning trophy in bracket racing.😁

It would be more interesting to bagger against bagger and cruiser against cruiser, etc... instead of modified metrics against bagger and cruiser Harleys. Something like an Electra Glide Ultra Classic against a Goldwing. I actually like both, but I don't like copycats, metrics trying to look like a Harley cruiser, but at the same time I really appreciate The Honda Valkyrie I'm even thinking about purchasing one. The only bikes I have owned in the last 40 years have been Harleys, my first big twin, a 1978 flh (bobber now) I still own. 1991 Springer Softtail and a 1992 Electra Glide Ultra Classic are my latest bikes. I prefer bikes that are relatively easy to work on with common hand tools 🔧 with no need for a computer to diagnose and / or program to get running.

The most fun drag races to watch are 150 cc races in Thailand. Why metric bikers have to cry and whine and get all bent out of shape about this I'll never understand. Same price as a harley ❤ with a sofa, refrigerator, microwave oven and a color TV....i'll take the Buell that weights 400 lbs makes 185 hp and goes 185 mph and cost is $10,000 dollars cheaper than a honda and drive circles around everything
