► ABOUT THIS HIKE
In November 2023, I hiked the O-trek (including the W-trek) in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile in southern Patagonia.
Day 1: I traveled by bus from Puerto Natales, entered the park at Laguna Amarga, and set up camp at Las Torres. I hiked to Mirador Base Las Torres, covering 23 kilometers. Day 2: I trekked 39 kilometers to Campamento Dickson, passing Rio Paine, Campamento Seron, and Lago Paine, with the glacier Dickson in the distance. Day 3: I covered 25 kilometers through a stunning forest to Los Perros, passing the Perros Glacier, and did a day-hike to the Puma Glacier on a non-maintained trail. Day 4: The day started with a climb to the Paso John Garner pass in snow. At top I got a mesmerizing view of the white expanse of Grey Glacier. I followed the trail along the glacier to Campamento Grey, then to Paine Grande campground. Day 5: despite the rain, I covered 43 kilometers. I hiked up to Mirador Británico and back to Central via Camping Francés and Refugio Los Cuernos. On the day 6, I woke up at 2:30 am and climbed to Mirador Base Las Torres, completing the final 20 kilometers of my 182-kilometer journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Patagonia.
Interested in doing this hike? Check out the travel guide (www.thatch.co/guide/2e7ss9h6g...) which explains everything you need to know: how to get to the park, how to make reservations (required!), what to see along the way, when to go, the weather, and much more. Included is a Custom Google Maps and GPX-files.
This is an ambient film without dialog.

Patagonia is by far one of the most off the charts places on this planet and your film capturing and releasing to my eyes, ears and deep sensing gave me views I had not heretofore experienced the sites. A lot of work and core love you put into your work and I’m sure brings you great joy. So many aspects of your filming I thought was just beautiful that to describe in this small note would be vain. Thank you for bringing me into another one of the spaces I too long to adventure. Peace brother.

But… it seems to me that the wonderful slow pace and slow change of scenes has sadly been left behind? Please dont rush the scenes… please keep the slow pace - it it your trademark 🤗🙏🏻

Estuve en diciembre de 2008 haciendo el circuito de las Torres del Paine solo, la visión del glaciar Gray cuando se accede desde Los Perros en el paso John Gardner es inolvidable. Thank you Harmen! Really good, as always. Maybe even inspiring me at age approaching 74 next month to do this while I can😊😊. But much beyond that I think your videos are illustrative of the power of the unspoken. I recently watched the film “2010 The Year we Make Contact” and many critics correctly described the excellent visuals as equal to or exceeding the quality of the original “2001…”.But to me, the difference is that Kubrick understood the enormous potential of shutting the f**k up.

Absolutely wonderful, I also passed by many points of your route, in another season and a few years ago. Thank you for making me relive these places.
